Well it's one more day til next year.
I've just done three 30min tests as part of trying to get a job with the HSE. Although I'm not sure I'd want the pay cut to work there LOL.
I'm out tonite with what now sounds like just a friend and her finace *groan* - there's nothing like walking behind a happy couple holding hands and kissing on new years eve night to really make you feel single!!!
I am not going to drink because tbh I just wanna show my face, see midnight and get away. I'm not in the mood for a disco (I agreed to go out to a pub for a quiet time, not a bloody £15 disco). I have 2 beers in the fridge to drink and then back on diet on the 2nd.
Everyone have a new year midnight kiss from me - so anyone alone at midnight is on a promise from me at least.
I will probably get a pity kiss off my friend!!

li!
How are you hun? I'm sorry you felt ignored - that never happens here, li.Wonderful clan of peeps on here sweetheart. I'm afraid that you'll have to forgive the sporadic post response times at this tme of year, angel. Everything's at 6's and 7's for many - yet, if it's anything like the old thread, we can expect a flurry of new posters here in January, 2008.
Let me stick my snout in here hun and share a thought or two...
You've been through an awful lot in recent years hunnie, with your dad's passing, your mum being ill and moving in, moving home, OH and children, work, debt and your depression. When we run it through like that li, it's no wonder you're depressed.
Hello there to you all
My lovely dad dies 6 yrs ago..........went downhill from there really, been on tabs, got better, okay for 4 yrs, working, loevely hubby, 2 great kids, then in Jan last yr, my mum got ill and we moved house so she could live with us. That was fine for a bit, I am main breadwinner, hubby looks after home and my mum.
I was off work again for a while but went back in May, and went back on tabs( Citalopram) and fely ok, but came off them last mth after doc said I seemed fine......... well I have hit rock bottom again............and back on tabs again.
Im feeling so guilty that I am unable to cope with what everyone else does, ie work, home etc. Work have been great so feel guilty that I am letting them down again but couldnt cope if I went back. I dont really like my job but Im stuck with it due to pension and its good money.
I am also in alot of debt which isnt helping as we have not been living within our means, most of it is in my name.
Hubby dosnt really understand and I feel so useless, because I should be able to 'get a grip' theres people worse off than us.( his words)
Anyway, just want to say hi and that I am trying to get sorted.
Li
The first thing I want to say to you angel is that feeling guilty about anything is not going to help and it usually comes along with depression. You have to remember that you have an illness angel that it is as every bit as credible as diabetes or asthma. Well done you for persevering and going back to the dr and accepting the help offered! It's important that you keep returning to your gp hun and keep them up to date with how you are.
Has gp referred you for any grief counselling regarding your dad, li? It's never too late hun. You can also get this through the charity CRUSE, which you can search the web for. Has your dr referred you for any other counselling or mental health support or assessment or psychiatic support?
Don't feel guilty about whatever everyone else seems to manage angel - you don't know what goes on behind closed doors. And they probably haven't got your issues to deal with either. When depression really hits us, we have to let go of what we feel we should/must/have to do. Because we can't do it - not when we're ill.
Debt can be helped by visiting the angels at CAB hunnie, who will contact the people you owe money to on your behalf, if you can't face doing it and who will also help you to work out a new budget and can do a benefit check for you.
As for work, you may want to talk to CAB too. If you are unable to work and do everyday things due to your mental ill health, you would be quite likely to qualify for Disability Living Allowance, which would be granted purely on your state of health and not on work, marriage, debt etc. You can qualify for this benefit purely on mental ill health grounds. I STRONGLY urge you to allow CAB assist you with filling out the claim form during an appt with them, because the wording has to be meticulous and they are extremely experienced in helping successful claims. Don't feel guilty about work being so understanding hun - be grateful! Life is hard enough right now and you don't need to worry about them as well if they're being so nice.
There will come a point where you'll possibly sit down and reassess everything that's happening angel. This can be a necessary part of recovery. There may be changes to make for the sake of your health and no-one can blame you for that. The worrying is the worst thing. Once you've made up your action plan as it were, you'll feel better because you'll feel more in control. If you can't work angel, then you can't work. They can't hang you for it and your health is the most important thing to consider.
You have to give depression some respect guys because, as most of you will know, you ignore it at your peril.
I'm sure you've probably got all the info you need li, but just in case here are some national charity info links which may help, even if it's so OH can get a clearer picture of depression.

No offence meant, but Tiffy would like 5 minutes alone with everyone who uses such phrases as this one.
If anyone could just 'get a grip', don't they think we'd have done it by now? If it was as easy as that, there would be no NHS waiting lists for mental ill health help and an awful lot of psychiatrists would be unemployed - both of which are not happening.
It's a very glib answer to give someone who's depressed angel and only makes them feel worse, which doesn't help. We have to allow for the fact that it's hard to understand unless you've experienced it, and that it can be a scarey time for them too, but some info and good communication can go a long way to helping you both. I'm sure your dr would be pleased to speak to OH with you present, if you think it would help.
I hope something here has helped angel and please feel free to post any time - there's generally a heavy flow of guardian angels passing through regularly.
So hunnie, take everything a step at a time, take care of the basics and work up to the rest and, above all, be kind to yourself.
Much Love,
Tiff xxx"If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought." ~ by Peace Pilgrim.***'You just got Tiffed!'***0
