This seems like a tight knitted community, so apologies for the intrusion!
I've been depressed for a while now, but it has become worse in the last year. I've had lots going on and at this point in time, I truly hold my hands up and say I've had enough.
I went to the docs today and was prescribed with 20mg of Citalopram. As you can imagine, I've been researching like crazy this afternoon, but wondered if anyone had any experience of this particular anti depressant? I'd be most grateful for any thoughts.
Hiya Charlene
I've been on the same for about 15 months now and found them great, I didn't have any side effects.. maybe I'm just luckyand after a couple of weeks things just seemed easier somehow. It wasn't a drastic.. happy clappy skipping around thing (unfortunately, lol) , just everything felt a bit lighter and less of a drain if that makes sense? It wasn't a big chore to get up and dressed and presentable enough to answer the front door n things like that whereas without them I'd hide if someone came to the door and I couldn't answer the phone easily or even open letters  I'm on 40mg now but that's because of my circumstances and some other problems that just meant I needed a bit of an extra lift
We're not tight knit at all, just I spose we've posted here a long time and know each other a bit. Everyone is welcome and it's lovely to see you☆ §ügÅr cØÅTëÐ pØï§Øn ☆

Charlene I have been prescribed the exact same thing and exact same dosage.
I have only been taking these for a week and so as of yet I cannot see that they have made any difference at all.
But I am sleeping a lot, and I constantly yawn - which appears to be one of the side effects. How bizarre!
Ahh, I remember the constant yawning. It was at least every 3 minutes, all day, every day for the whole time I was on the tablets. I had to keep explaining to people that they weren't boring me, it was the tablets!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

I know! It is so embarrassing though! It's like each yawn isn't quite big enough so another happens straight away then my eyes water like mad!
lol
Well done on staying dry for so long!!!

Thanks guys!! I really appreciate the responses and PM's
dawnylou - I've been reading on another forum about the yawning! My doc said that as I have a hard time sleeping, it should have the opposite effect if I take it last thing at night. Here's hoping. I'm going to start it next Friday, after my birthday.
We won't be too far behind each other so can compare notes!
EthelBloggs - Thank you for the warm welcome, I'm glad they're working for you, with no side effects!! I hope I'm as lucky, please! What you mentioned, regarding the way they are working for you is the kind of thing I'm hoping for, just to feel a bit more on a level you know? I can't believe I've let things get this bad, but then again, starting medication is a scary thing, well for me definitely.
Anyhoo, I'm soooooo tired, just hope I can sleep tonight! It's hubby's last night shift for the week, so looking forward to sleeping properly tomorrow night!!
Thanks again all, I will be popping back on and try to get to know you all

Hi Charlene! :hello:
Well done Feelinggood! I know how hard it is. You must be pleased.
I was attacked at work today by a drunk guy. And he yelled at my supervisor and stole alcohol. I'm ok, but I was a bit shaken up for ages.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Oh Juno  what a scare! I worked as a barmaid in a previous lifestyle, & one well known frequenter of the local hostelries complained to my boss, because I SPOKE to him! And because he was such a good patron, the landlord took his side:mad: How the hell you're supposed to be pleasant & serve folk, without asking something, is beyond my talents at Charades I'm afraid:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Recalling that pretentious knob has cheered me up tho.......Pup was involved with a couple of minor 'personality clashes' at school today:o but because he is a cross between 2 terrier breeds the other owners were all looking at us with 'shouldn't be allowed in our training class' type faces.....but they didn't clock the other dogs starting it, only Pup either defending himself or eager to play! Hopefully things will be better next week, when they're all a bit older......
OK, now I've got that off me chest, I'm going to bed.
