I'm sure it helps to experience depression, as those who never have, can never truly understand.

It's hard enough when there are differing degrees of depression, as I will never truly understand someone with worse depression than myself, although I naturally empathise.

I think that depression is easier to understand when either you or someone close to you has it. I didn't really understand when my mum told me she had depression a few years ago. I tried to understand and work out what I could do to help her. I certainly understand now :o

roversbabe, Unfortunately I'm stuck with him as my psychiatrist. When I'm out of hospital I don't tend to see him, I see another of his team so it's not so bad.

No, I'm not part of a union.

    How are you hun? xxx

Am getting there! Had a diagnostic laparoscopy on Monday as I have a cyst on my ovary so I'm feeling a bit sore there. Will get an appointment in 8 weeks to discuss the results of the laparoscopy and find out where we go from there.

Got my blood results from the doctors to see if there is a physical reason for feeling so tired and down and there isn't. My blood tests show that I am the picture of health  .

Had a good long chat with the doc today about how I was feeling and he believes that I have post natal depression and has give me different anti depressants. The last ones made me feel worse (they made me feel suicidal  and I wasn't like that before). I'm waiting for an appointment for my initial assessment with the mental health team and hopefully, I should start to feel better and have more energy soon.

Got another 2 weeks off work and I hope to have more energy by then so I can go back to work. I really want to go back, I'm missing it.

If you're worried about your job, join a union and have a chat with a rep or have a chat with ACAS. I'm certain that you can't lose your job for having depression but don't quote me on that. You should be protected in some way.

Gosh roversbabe, you have been having a tough time of things. I hope you are resting.

Good news about the blood results :)

I hope you get on better with the new anti-depressants. Do you know how long you have to wait for the initial assessment?

Make sure you relax as much as possible during the next 2 weeks as I imagine that when you're back at work you won't get the chance.

Well you see I work as a trainee pharmacy technician and obviously have access to a lot of different medicines and because of my history of overdosing my psychiatrist doesn't think I'm suitable to work there. However, I know myself that I would never OD using medicines from work, I just couldn't do it.

Just seems to be one thing after another :o Ah well, at least I'm getting it all out of the way at once. :D

Not sure how long I have to wait for the assessment - I forgot to ask (my memory is absolutely shot at the mo). I've got the work counselling service number if I need it in the meantime.

Hope it goes OK at work. Hugs

:j I can leave the hospital tomorrow :j I'm really pleased. My psychiatrist is a !!!!!!!. I hope I never have to see him again. He's always so aggressive and nasty. Anyway, I am feeling OK at the moment and don't feel the need to overdose.

I'm worried about my job. I really hope HR don't contact my psychiatrist as otherwise they won't have me back.

Great to have you back RBK:D I don't think your physch can give any info regarding your sessions with him to your HR people  It confidential, surely.

Anyway, good to see you are well.

Hey ya Karrie, How are you?

Well I had to agree to him giving out information but he said even if I refused if HR asked he would be giving them his professional opinion anyway so I don't know

    hi all,
quick call.am keeping up with you all so am here in spirit, iykwim.

rbk....am so glad you are alittle better and you are home.always think there is too much time to think and nowhere to go when you are in hospital, at least when you ae home, you know where all your stuff is and eat and drink when you want.....and you dont have to pay for the fone and telly!!!!
had letter re medical and they said all is as before so still on incap.was a weight off my mind cos at the mo, dont feel safe to be out and amongst the workforce and the crowds, cos my coping mechanism isnt up to it.
have re-siliconed the bath today (strange thing to do to keep my mind active, i know!!)....took ages but felt i had accomplished something really major....just hope it doesnt leak again, couldnt bear the dissappointment.

hope all is ok with everyone and youre doing the best you can.ttfn.
    kind regards, ilgd xx

ilovegreatdanes, I'm glad to hear that you have received the letter regarding the medical. What a huge relief. I know you were really worried about that.

Anything that keeps the mind occupied is good :) Are you generally quite good at DIY?
