Maybe your hubby can go to the doctors with you so he can learn more about depression, maybe explain to the doctor that hubby is finding it difficult to understand your illness and he/she might put him straight on a few things.A lot of people find it hard to understand depression, its even harder when its your wife or hubby. Here a hug th_fuzzyhug.gif

p.s.: i'm on citalopram also(i think you meant them)been on them years, was on 60 mg daily at one time but now i'm on 40mg,doc reckons i'll be on them for life, tbh i don't want to come off them

thanks for your reply ive tried asking him to come to the doctors but he wont ive asked him to read books if i get some from the library and he doesent and i say to him if it was you id be doing everything to help you get better quicker i dont understand why he thinks its ok to just ignore it and hope it will go away and my husband hardly ever goes to the doctor so the doctor cant speak to him and yet when i married him my parents didnt like him never came to my wedding and disowned me all i want him to do his help me through this but just feel like its to much to ask thanks for your support queensway boy

santashelper, Did your Doctor not try you on any other anti-depressants? You seemed to have benefited from counselling. Perhaps your Doctor could refer you again to see a counsellor.

I can relate to being treated like crap by people, especially when they know you're quite vulnerable. It's horrible and it really does set you back.

It's great that you can see a positive out of your unfortunate situation. I'm sure you'd do really well helping others.

    (((HUGS)))

i didnt try any other antidepressants as my doctor thought the councilling would be better i have been back for another assessment and was told the criteria has got harder for acceptance and basically i think because so many people have depression these days unless you are going to take your life you have little chance of getting any and as i have not worked for 4 years have no means of paying privately they have suggested joining a womens support group which i am looking into but many people who attend have been on drugs or alcholic which i have not got involved in i have been told i would be good with familys and helping others which i am aiming to do voluntary

Am getting there! Had a diagnostic laparoscopy on Monday as I have a cyst on my ovary so I'm feeling a bit sore there. Will get an appointment in 8 weeks to discuss the results of the laparoscopy and find out where we go from there.

Got my blood results from the doctors to see if there is a physical reason for feeling so tired and down and there isn't. My blood tests show that I am the picture of health  .

Had a good long chat with the doc today about how I was feeling and he believes that I have post natal depression and has give me different anti depressants. The last ones made me feel worse (they made me feel suicidal  and I wasn't like that before). I'm waiting for an appointment for my initial assessment with the mental health team and hopefully, I should start to feel better and have more energy soon.

Got another 2 weeks off work and I hope to have more energy by then so I can go back to work. I really want to go back, I'm missing it.

If you're worried about your job, join a union and have a chat with a rep or have a chat with ACAS. I'm certain that you can't lose your job for having depression but don't quote me on that. You should be protected in some way.

    Love Allie xx

regarding jobs and depression i lost mine through being diagnosed with depression i was taken advantage of in a job i was in and wanted to leave so i found another job which i shared with someone else their hours started to decrease and mine were being slowly increased i was being given more and more to take on and started to get unwell when i was eventually diagnosed with depression (which eventually was diagnosed also as a nervous breakdown) my company said dont worry, two weeks later i got a letter saying because i had been there for less than a year they could not keep me on i checked with acas and they said they could do that, surfice to say i also then developed problems with anger  i used to be quite judgemental of people with issues in life but i now realised how unfair life can be and why people develop problems
