Today I bought a Jelly from Tesco.
It was one of those little pots with fruit inside the jelly. My three year old daughter had one and a few hours later she was sick.
She has eaten all the same foods as her brothers & sisters apart from the jelly. When I realised this, I took a look at the Jellies I still had in the fridge. The best before date was the end of Jan 2014. I am 100% sure that is what made her sick.
I have just briefly googled the law of selling best before & use by foods. It seems that it is not illegal to sell best before foods that are past date. However I have seen that they should of made the buyer aware of the fact, which they did not.
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks x
Wont be the jelly, too short an incubation time and also very little in jelly that would be able to make you sick.0 -
Could be jelly belly0

Again, Just out of interest Zandoni what is it you do?
Dont belive your own hype, thanks on here are not worth the paper they are written on;)0 -
It's probably not due to the jelly but it doesn't mean the parent was after compensation.
Hmm, yet the thread was started in the consumer rights forum, and aren't exactly in the right place to try and obtain medical advice are they.
The way I read the OP is thus:I have just briefly googled the law of selling best before & use by foods.because there might be some cash in this It seems that it is not illegal to sell best before foods that are past date. !!!!!! However I have seen that they should of made the buyer aware of the fact, which they did not. result, it's not against the law but maybe they'll give me some cash to get rid of me
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks x0 -
