Lose Weight 13

Ok - I am cross now. I have just disscovered that my electronic scales are playing tricks on me. I got on the scales and weighed myself, then got off and remove my jacket - reweighed myself and have gained 1.5 lbs! Stupid scales. I then got on and off, on and off, on and off and the scales kept moving. I weigh myself at my desk at work (I don't trust myself to have scales at home - woudl get too obsessive). I have just moved the scales to the Ladies loos (!!!) to weigh myself on the tiled floor and then had to get on and off, on and off etc to ensure that is was consistent. I had trusted those scales and they had let me down !
Anyway, after muchos on and off of the scales, I am comfortable to accurately report a 4lb loss this week. Perhaps my scales had been lying to me for the last few weeks when my weight loss had slowed right down - dunno. Anyway, I am delighted to say that I am now comfortably down into the next stone and my weight loss has exceeded 5 stone. Yay. I have dieted a few times before and usually lose 3 -4 stone at a time (and then obviously gain it and more) but this is the first time I have exceeded 5 stone. Woohoo.0 -
ARGH!!! Joined SW last night - I am now on Day 1 of 5.5stone weight loss
Even then I won't be in healthy range, but when I was that weight before I was sooo skinny!
Done 3.5stone before but 5.5stone sounds sooo much more!

re the BMI chat that was going on, im not a huge believer in it either. im a midget at 5ft and my bmi should be 7stone 1 - 9 stone 2. The lowest ive ever been was 9stone 2 and i was a size 8, i dread to think what skin and bones id have been at 7 stone 1!
a 2lb loss this weekwas hoping for 3 but i did have a whole pizza and ice cream this weekend at my mums so guess that may have had an impact on it as i weigh on a monday too, doh. Well aiming for a 1lb loss this week to get me over the half stone marker.
Have to say, still not noticing any difference in the fitting of my clothes or mirror image, how long does it take to notice a difference?0 -
Yeah I think that "ideal" weight chart is having us all on. When I was within that "healthy" range - everyone thought I was anorexic!!!!
DO NOT take that chart TOO LITERALLY!
BMI seems to be a more realistic measure but even then it doesn't take into account that muscle is still weight and so a body builder or an athlete with a very low percentage body fat would still be classed as "overweight" just by using BMI.
It's all a GUIDE - not a rule!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

... well done efrieze. It's hard getting the scales in the same place every week - different parts of my bathroom floor sem to generate a different weight, but I guess all that can be done is to report what we get.
Nice loss! :T0 -

... skinty, everyone takes those charts with a pinch of salt, or a good shovelful in my case. You'll know where you want to be when you get there.
Can I suggest that you don't consider your journey to be a 5.5 stone loss, but a series of incremental losses, either half a stone, 10 lbs, or stone by stone at the very most? Attainable targets is the way forward.0 -
Hi need to loose 3 stone, could do with some support! (no I dont mean scaffolding!!)
Ha ha, brilliant Tan, just the kind of humour we like on here! Welcome to the group, they're ace and you'll feel supported in no time.
Good luck with your first week!The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

... Rome wasn't built in a day.. .whatever that means. What I found was that the first stone or so I saw nothing, but also, I was the last to notice. I guess that's because I was with me all the time, so noticed no difference. I think you will find that the first people to notice will be those that don't see you that often, maybe on a week-to-week basis. The fun bit is, when other people notice, suddenly it clicks with you too, and you find that you can fit into the next size down. That's my favourite bit0 -

It sounds like a long hard slog but if you take it week by week the weight will start to shift and it should feel possible. Why not join our August challange to try to lose 5lbs during the month? It is almost half a stone and a nice target to aim for each month.0 -
Morning everyone, and congrats to all who are reporting a loss, esp. Efrieze (once the scales fiasco was sorted - mine play up too!).
Great advice from the Ajaxmeister again about attainable targets - sometimes looking at the big picture can be v daunting so lil' steps forward really help. I've even cut mine into 3 or 4 pounds at a time, just because my weight loss is so slow and I know I fluctuate a lot (from my illness), mostly upwards sadly:(
I've decided that the best I can hope for in the next couple of months is to maintain. This isn't defeatist but realistic, as I'm away from Thursday until 1st October so I won't be able to menu plan/stick to routine etc. My GL plan involves making everything from scratch which just isn't feasible away from home. But FEAR NOT, I am not giving up at all - I shalll still be trying hard to eat well as this is key to my recovery, and then from October I can really get to grips with things.
We're off to France for 2 1/2 weeks - wine, cheese and pain au chocolat spring to mind  - but then we're off to India for a month so a bit of Dehli belly might even me out, lol! :rotfl:
Anyway, that's the plan. Let's just hope I can manage to avoid doing this in the meantime :EasterBun
Thanks for all the songs too - if I had time I'd check 'em all out (I'm hopeless at knowing a song unless I hear it). My current fave is Big Girls are Beautiful, I'm adding it to my Illness Anthems on my iPod!The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000
