Good question bails - Probably Don Henley's boys of summer - cos it reminds me of the summer I was 15? ( just looked it up - 13). Just the perfect summer song.

Sorry but i think that the apostrophes in this post are very relevant. I think this suggests a goal weight far lower than is realistic. When I was at my thinnest 5 years ago, everyone I knew said (and still says) that I was too thin (despite me not thinking it!). This cahrt put me just inside normal weight (on the cusp of overweight). I guess it doesn't take into consideration your frame size but it still looks a bit on the low side.

Kyle, please notice that Ajax said 'ideal' - personally I would've said 'you're having a bloody laugh'!!

I agree efrieze (and especially bails), that's why I couldn't just give the info without adding the sarcasm of highlighting it with apostrophes. These charts are (in my humble opinion) at least 25 years out of date and make no consideration of widening frames. You only have to look at a Robin Askwith film of the 1970s, or a football match of that era to see how humans have widened since then. Without wanting to blow a trumpet too much, at the age of 18 I was fit as a butcher's dog and part of the team which won the UK Indoor Cricket Championships..... but never falling into that white band.

It's my honest opinion that it doesn't suit the drug companies to admit what is a healthy weight these days with fitness awareness more to the fore than ever. If they had to admit that we should add 10% to those bands then the doctors would run out of excuses and the sellers of supplements would panic over everyone suddenly being within target again. Or maybe I'm just a cynic.

And yes, ajax, I am 5'10 (so close to your 5'11) - tall and broad and never going to weigh what that chart tells me to!

.. these titches just don't understand how hard it is for us normal ;) folk to reduce BMI with our height ;)

..... at the moment it's Lips Of An Angel by Hinder. Maybe we should all put our favourite song in our sigs, then check everyone elses out at our leisure. Might make us understand one another a bit better and bring us even closer. :grouphug:

    Evening all :hello:

This thread gets busier! Any day now someone's going to pop their head in and say it's time for Lose Weight 14!

Interesting discussion about ideal weight - I'm also a sceptic about the charts, as another tall person (nearly 6') with a large frame, there's no way I'm ever going to get to the weight they recommend - I'd be nothing more than skin and bone! I know what my ideal is, and according to the charts I'd still be overweight, which means my GP would still think my health risks were too high, but if I got there I'd be over the moon! :D:D

Hard to say what my favourite song is, it changes everyday depending on my mood, but one that always gets me singing along is Sandi Thom's 'Wish I was a punkrocker (with flowers in my hair)' - to me it sums up how different life is from when I was in my teens.

Welcome to the new people and well done to everyone who's lost weight this week. :)

Lois, I have a 2lb gain to report this week after mucho self-abuse  with naughty foods and alcohol before starting WW today.

Also, could you please amend my total weight loss in your graph? I think I must have given you a bum steer some time ago... I'm actually on 49.5 lbs after today's gain, not before it - it was 51.5 lbs.

    Thank you very much. x

....delly, have you any tips for the most WW-friendly rice? Do you weigh it? Do you have kidney beans in your chili?
