I remembered what I meant to say yesterday, re SW and WW I think they are fine when you need to lose a lot of weight, but not so good if you only need to lose a stone or so and by looking at your photos I would think that that is why you've 'maintained' for such a while although I'm not sure if you meant that in that way, because you did lose the weight you gained after your marriage during this time (if you know what I mean :o ) I found that WW was very slow and that's why I calorie counted, also your points soon disappeared  Anyway, as I said yesterday, a change and all that, I hope it goes well for you and MrsA :j ...

...ta :) I do get what you mean. I'm using the WW points as a step on the way to calorie counting as WW is pretty much a calorie intake regulator, unlike SW which will happily let you eat 10,000 calories a day and lose weight. Like you say though, you can't do that for ever and get away with it. I'm mildly excited by the thought of trying WW and the new foods that have become available. I guess they were always available, but when you follow plan like SW you tend to bias toward free food, and so needlessly discount synned food (or at least I did). With everything now having a value, the onus is off trying to find things which are free. I'm playing with counting points until Tuesday when I start in essence, and am thriving on the luxury of being able to ignore it until then as my pizza (17 points) and 2 boxes of micro chips (2x 2.5 points) for tea last night will show. I think I picked the wrong week to start the August challenge:rotfl:

How many [STRIKE]points[/STRIKE] (edit) calories do you allow yourself a day Petrichor? Are you at the "full" 1500 for a laydee?

Oh by the way, can I ask something of the females here? Do you feel patronised by the term "ladies"? Is "women" preferable?

Ajaxl I for one am not offended to be called a lady (even if it is quite far from the truth - my sense of humour lets me down every time:rolleyes:)

"laydee" is a different matter altogether.:rotfl:( I watch too much little britian) Most women I know actually refer to themselves as girls... as in "I'm going out with the girls tonight" or having a "girlie" night in.

I was wondering - how is MrsA getting along with counting points? Have you looked at any of the WW recipes on the LW recipe collection thread? To be honest, I rarely look for weight watchers recipes, I have certain things I would get in for dinners and just point them. If they're too high in points then I don't bother including them in my weekly menu plans any more until I find a way to reduce the points.

Hope you're not working too hard!

Petrichor - are you back up to the 2000 calories a day it's recommended for women to eat or are you slowly reintroducing 100 calories at a time to see how you get along? How's the bag today? Was it nice waking up an looking at your new Radley? I'm so envious!

..ta delly. I ask because in these days of PC-ness, the Ladies' Golf Open now seems to be called the Women's Golf Open. Also, at my local club, anything gender specific has been eradicated, meaning actually that the lady members will get a far rougher deal - The men's fees have been reduced and the ladies' have been increased to bring them more level, with complete parity happening next year. Also, up to now, there has been a "ladies Day" on a Tuesday, where men are still ok to play, but have to give course priority to playing ladies. That will disappear. Without wanting to patronise the ladies, I find that a huge pity, and quite like having to show extra respect. Anyway, I digress....

.... she's doing fine thanks. She's tending to stick to ready meals while she finds her feet, but realises this won't be the way to go long-term as there's no value in the points. I made a Quorn mince throw-together the other day for a total of 7 points which fed both me and her very well, not to mention our dozy Springer Spaniel. I have not looked at the recipes yet but will be looking later this week as I want to get back to OS as much as possible on WW. We've recently bought a slow cooker with some of our wedding present vouchers and I want to flog it to death (not to mention the slow cooker ;) )

Actually no I didnt, dont know why either, as I did Preztal and coffee at the top of the empire state? I do remember taking my children to a diner for breakfast in Toronto and middle daughter wanted pancakes, five pancake, as high and as wide as a cake and covered in maple syrup! Poor thing, she tried to eat it all managed about a third of hit :) I didnt touch it at all.

You've just given yourself away Ajax - not such an old dirty mac with holes in the pockets after all are you?

Just had a thought. Meringue nests are only 1/2 point on WW. Marks & Spencer's are the most tasty (not too sure if that fits in with your vegetarianism though). They're yummy with raspberries and natural yoghurt (the tang from the raspberries and yoghurt sets off the sweetness of the meringue nests really well!)

.....blimey that's restraint. I stayed with a (Italian) mate's family in Toronto and so breakfast was relatively sensible. We did New York and Toronto on the same trip - Baltimore too. All in the name of baseball.

When we went to the Empire State, just as we were walking in John Peel was also going in. We didn't want to hassle the God that is John Peel on holiday so we spent 10 minutes following him around taking surreptitious photos. Oh how silly. World Trade Centre was brilliant too but don't want to start thinking about that :(
It's an overused observation but it really is easy to see why there's such an obesity problem in the US - there's so much competition for the buyer's dollar that they have no option but to give as much food as cheaply as possible, and also make you come back for more.... by making that food "nice" ie full of salt and/or sugar. The train ride from NYC to Toronto is 14 hours - 10 in the US, 2 hours parked at the Niagara border and 2 hours travelling in Canada. For the 10 US hours, the buffet car sold coffee in a pint cup (I kid you not), and the cost including unlimited free refills was one US dollar. I never been so hyper! :D

...thanks, good tip - would have expected much worse with all that sugar although I did see that egg whites were zero-pointed.

I do eggs by the way :D

PS.. I'm more dirty mac than respectful honestly :)
