UNIQUE(ish) issues with G24 & POPLA - HELP!

Hello! I have been scouring through threads and getting suitable overwhelmed, as I can't quite find anything relevant to my current situation:

I have had two Parking Charges from G24 (coincidentally) recently, one of them is now closed as they decided to drop it. I was charged as the parking ticket i bought got blown over on my dash, so no proof of payment. We'll call this closed charge "A".

Now, parking charge "B" was due to me overstaying in a B&M free car park by 19 mins (where my mum made a sizable furniture purchase!!). This was in OCT 2013, I never received their PCN in November 2013 and only found out about this charge in January 2014 when they sent another letter saying I had to pay the full £90 rather than the smaller 14-day-limit £50.

I sent them a letter asking to be allowed to pay the £50 instead of the £90 as I never received the initial letter.

Normally, I assume I can appeal on these grounds and appeal through POPLA:
1. Parking Notice not received within 15 days.
2. The charge is not a genuine pre-estimate of loss.
3. Non-compliant signage.
4. No authority to issue invoices.
5. Denial of right to appeal.
6. The amount of the charge is disproportionate to the loss incurred by G24.

BUT my appeal through POPLA for charge A got confused with this current charge. I have received a massive 15+ page document of evidence how my appeal regarding a pay and display ticket is invalid as this B&M car park doesn't have a pay and display machine, when I attached the photo evidence of my pay and display ticket for charge A, not B. POPLA/G24 think I have appealed through POPLA for this current charge B when I haven't. This means I cannot appeal through POPLA for B.

So now I need some advice! Do I write to G24 telling them the big mistake and that I won't pay because of all the reasons listed above (I implied I was driving in the letter I sent, I didn't know not to at the time!), because they are now trying to charge me £100 instead of the initial £90? Do I write to POPLA? Do I write to B&M a complaint and see if it can be dropped this way?

I should also add that in the big evidence pack, all the letters of correspondance are included, and from that i can see that i never recieved another letter from them. This one allows me to pay the £50 within 14 days (again) but (again) i never received it and missed my chance.

Any help is greatly appreciated! I am a student and cannot afford £100 ! Thank you!

Could you send me a copy of what G24 have sent you please?
We are compiling some of this information

Ive sent you a private message

Dont worry, G24 dont do court on current so you have nothing to worry about if things have been messed up

Have you received and not used the popla code for car park B?

  • Hello! I never asked for the POPLA code for charge B, that was to be my next step but POPLA already think they were involved from my previous charge. I was wondering whether i can still ask for the code considering they were the ones who issued the evidence pack.

OH, is the code called the 'verification code'? because if so it is on my evidence pack, but i never asked for it.

Thanks for your reply, i will read your pm now

what a mess they have made of this
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Haha, don't i know it! I don't see how they could have, when I used the PCN number for charge A when sending evidence - and hadn't even known about charge B yet!

    so...

    Code summary
    Issuing operator: G24 xxx
Date code generated: Thu Jan 23 2014
    Code sequence number: xxx

    Deadline information
You have missed the deadline to appeal!
Your deadline was on the Thu Feb 20 2014
Your deadline passed 6 day(s) ago

    Grounds for complaint
This code was generated 33 day(s) before the date of your appeal rejection letter. This means that you have not been given the full 28 days to appeal that you are entitled to under the British Parking Association's Code of Practice. Please consider making a complaint.

oooo, what do i do with this?

I have just realised that this code must be for charge A. I don't know how this confusion changes my ground for complaining?
  • So, any next steps?
Write to G24/POPLA? Complain about POPLA following the code lookup? Is the fact that they confused my cases (and caused me extra stress, i can't tell you how stressed I am by all this!) enough for this to be dropped? Do POPLA do court?
  • Leigh not got that email yet?

  • I am thinking that I should write to POPLA, outline their error, and tell them I won't be paying G24 because of all the points above? G24 stated in the evidence pack that because I (supposedly) appealed through POPLA, they won't investigate any further. Should I write to them instead, anyway?

And Kirkby, I'm working out how to hide my personal details on all the 15+ pages, as they're scattered everywhere. Also, all the photocopies are really hard to read, so I don't know how much use they will be to you. Do you have any advice on my next steps?
