Parking Charge Notices - MET / Parking Eye

Hi all,
Sorry for the new thread post - but I'm a little confused so just wanted some clarity.

I have received two PCN's. The first, was when I met up with some of my fellow colleagues for a meeting/discussion at McDonalds (during which of course we had some food) as at 10pm it was the main place we knew that would still be open. We were there for over 1 hour and a half and I was issued a PCN by MET Parking.

The second is when I did the same thing at South Mimms Service Station and was there for 2 hours 55 mins, again for a meeting. I was issued a PCN by Parking Eye.

Both times, I was unaware there were parking charges.

I have so far, ignored all correspondence, following advice on these forums. But I have since started to read that people are writing back to the companies/debt recovery company/POPLA to fight these.

I have prepared some letters to send, but what do I do? Continue to ignore or write back and fight to get them to make it go away?

Many Thanks indeed all!

Steve

    Need dates ...

    Dates of events
    Dates of letters

Also, is this your car (you are the registered keeper) or is it a company/lease/hire car?

Regardless, read the NEWBIES thread. (See my sig).
  • The MET charge is from 16/10/2013 and last letter is from Debt Recovery Plus on 21/02/2014 - which states it is 'Reduced Payment Offer to avoid court proceedings'.

The Parking Eye Charge is from 08/09/2013 and has also now been referred to a Debt Recovery company. I do not have the last correspondence, as have been ignoring and binning letters as per some advice on here.

The newbies thread is quite helpful, but does seem to suggest that I start to enforce some rigourous complaints back to the PPC's.

I am the registered keeper of the vehicle.

You've read old advice then, we haven't said to ignore in well over a year on here. So your course set, you ignore until you get a letter before claim, or you pay. Please don't throw any paperwork away ! Out of the two the parking eye one is more of a concern as they do issue claims.

Make complaints to the retailers or and landowners, don't admit to being the driver, only the registered keeper

  • Damn it - it seems as though I have indeed followed out of date advice!

So I'm thinking I have two options -
    a) appeal to both McDonalds (MET) and South Mimms (Parking Eye) and explain my usage of the car park both times and get them to request the charge is taken away

    or

    b) Get a family member to take on the charge by admitting they were the driver and then follow the appropriate appeals procedure

    Would people agree?

Option B is a good one but obviously only if it's true ;)

Be very careful what you post on here from now on as Parking Eye have their little pathetic spies who read the forums.

If you get a PM make sure it's from a regular poster with a post count of 100+. The PPCs are so corrupt they have been known to try and trap people into admitting things via PM.

Please don't say someone else was driving if it's not true, it's not worth the risk for a pathetic invoice like this, you lie in court and you could land up behind bars.

Same as here then, very similar, MET and Parking Eye fake PCNs, collected by another poster but naively ignored despite the clear advice on MSE here for a whole year. These could have been beaten so easily by the keeper at the first attempt, now too late to appeal (technically) unless they name the driver (a different person):

And I am sure you won't lie but will realise indeed that someone else was driving that day. Think about it.

You are on someone else's thread. Instead read the ''sticky'' info thread advice about Scotland in the NEWBIES thread linked there. Why do so many newbies not just click to the first page and read the advice at the top? No reply here please as this is enfieldsteve's thread of course, not a general discussion. Surely you didn't miss all the other threads on the entire parking forum? Don't reply on this thread!

Sticky information & advice threads stuck at the top - as with any forum they are there to be read first...

  • I contacted the CEO of Welcome Break regarding my Parking Eye fine and it was referred to Parking Services Team at Welcome Break. They have managed to obtain a settlement of £11, being the original parking charge that should have been made plus a £10 admin fee, which I have accepted. Far better than the £100 being charged!

I also emailed CEO at McDonalds regarding MET charge and this is now in hands of McDonalds Complaints Team who have emailed me directly to say they are looking into it.

    Fingers crossed!
