Parking Charge Notices - MET / Parking Eye

I would have pressed for the admin charge to be dropped, but it's a fair offer I think as the £11 is the loss. As for MET , they are toothless but lets see if McDonald's will cancel for you. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

They have managed to obtain a settlement of £11, being the original parking charge that should have been made plus a £10 admin fee, which I have accepted. Far better than the £100 being charged!
I also emailed CEO at McDonalds regarding MET charge and this is now in hands of McDonalds Complaints Team who have emailed me directly to say they are looking into it.
Fingers crossed!
Interesting U turn yet again by Welcome break. Well done you - and maybe McD's will help but we usually recommend dealing with the local Manager, not nationally (they say tough, normally). Local McD's managers cancel these all the time at their sites.
If you had read the 'Successful Complaints about PPCs' sticky thread you would have read that I no longer recommend emailing the CEO of WB at all because people were receiving back a generic 'insult to their intelligence' in the form of a pre-written fob-off from the 'Parking Team (written by ParkingEye).
Offering to settle at a tenner was happening in Summer 2013 and was reasonable. WB must have perhaps realised the damage to their name that this matter was causing and have reverted to that?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Good to see that WB and PE have worked together to see sense in this particular instance then!
True to form as you say, McDonalds central complaints have come back and stated tough, the guidelines are the guidelines. I have responded back again to urge them as the landowner, to review this case in order to obtain a successful resolution, but as you say, it may be I have to ask the local manager instead?
Would this be a case of dropping into the restaurant itself?0 -
Quick update - I have spoken to the restaurant manager himself, and he has said as it isn't a franchised restaurant, this complaint can only be upheld by central customer services. Customer services have already fobbed off my email by simply stating the parking guidelines to me. I have responded requesting that they review this case more closely.
Is it worth me tweeting and face-booking my complaint also? Or should I go back to MET and follow up how unfair this is?0 -
Forget MET they will do nothing, I would go for Facebook and twitter on this, and email the uk main person, if I remember rightly its a lady and her surname is McDonaldWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

Yes! It works well to focus them a bit more on resolving the complaint!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

OK another update in my MET / McDonalds saga.
McDonalds Head Office have come back to me for a 2nd time (and I cc'd Jill McDonald in both times I emailed) and said that unfortunately their stance remains the same and rules are the rules for overstay in their car parks.
I have tweeted them with my disappointment already but heard nothing.
I have now emailed them back for a 3rd time, even more firmly, but I do feel that I am going to keep getting the same response.
The local restaurant manager cannot (or won't) help as it's not a franchise restaurant so complaints have to be dealt with centrally.
I have also been told that appealing to MET won't do any good, though surely they must realise that if this went to court, they would lose? I would be willing to come to a fairer agreement, is it definitely not worth contacting them?
Otherwise, I'm stumped with what I can do but I'm loathe to paying a £120 parking fine simply for parking in a McDonalds restaurant, buying a meal and having a meeting with friends!0 -
You don't have to pay just because you missed the chance to appeal. You could always name the driver (who was of course not the same person as the keeper) so they get a shiny new PCN. Think carefully about who might have been driving...
See the NEWBIES thread, advice on rewinding the clock if you think you are 'too late to appeal'.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So it seems I have reached a dead end with McDonalds & MET:-
"The policy and stance relating to parking restrictions have been outlined previously and I am afraid there is little further we can add. However, we have liaised with the parking company regarding your particular case and after consideration as a goodwill gesture they are making arrangements to instruct their recovery agents to place a revised and lower charge of £100 to you."
I can't really see how £100 charge can be classed as "goodwill". Is it worth an appeal to MET or will they not entertain it seeing as this period has now passed?0
