  • Hello P&F. I'm just de-lurking to say Hi

I too am suffering with sleep at the moment - which is totally not good for everything. I also need to get some extra work, so am on the look out but with my lack of sleep I feel I can barely cope with my 4 day week never mind 5 or 6. It's a bit of a circle I'm caught in as my lack of sleep is due to money and job worrying.

I've just enjoyed reading your thread again though, you are so proactive and organised. I'm hoping I can get myself to that level again soon.

    :)

    Hi everyone. :)

No, I didn't get the job. :( I expected not to and I've decided I'm not going to try for any more. I think the only way I would get a temporary Christmas job is to essentially lie on my application or go back in time and be under 18 again. :rotfl:

Anyway, maybe it would have all been too much working 6 or 7 days a week. I am going to have to revert to trying to raise some cash via ebay and other selling. But I've done some planning on YNAB and you know, it's not looking too bad actually. I will survive. :)

I will say once again how much YNAB has transformed the management of my finances, it just seems to make me better at organising my money and not spending it. :T
  • Oh I am sorry to hear that. Didn't want to say until after I heard but I read from someone on another thread that they quickly had to give up their second job due to being taxed through their nose. Probably better to work your usual job, and just try and cut back and get some savings somewhere.

I know you already have looked but can you change elec/gas suppliers and score some cashback in time for Xmas?

I am in love with YNAB. I don't even see my bank balance any more. I just follow my budgets (most of the time) and seem to always have enough. Putting it to the test this next month though so see how it fares with £380 less coming in.

    Hugs!!!

Thanks for dropping in, SS. I hope you managed to get some decent sleep lately.

My lack of sleep is more due to hormones / menopausal symptoms than anything else. I have other problems in my life but they are not really keeping me awake. I am in debt but I am very much on top of things at the moment. I can manage without the extra job, it just would have been nice to have.

I think if you are already suffering from exhaustion then working an extra couple of days a week will only makes things worse. It's easy for me to say, but try not to worry too much about money - lying awake at night stressing is not going to help things and it's not going to help you. Also, the dead of night is just about the worst time to be thinking about ANYTHING - everything seems much worse at that time.

I have banned myself from thinking about anything if I'm awake in the middle of the night. I either try to meditate by emptying my mind (which usually means I drop off to sleep again) or if I can't get back to sleep, I read a book for a little while.

If you can't get those troubling thoughts out of your head, go downstairs, make a herbal tea and write down everything that is troubling you, pour out all your woes. Just getting it all out of your head will help you.

Take care and remember that things will get better. :grouphug:

Wow, that's a big drop, Lilt! At least you have YNAB to help you manage. I reconcile YNAB to my bank accounts almost every day, it's so easy to do. I've used it to forecast roughly up to the end of December (although I know that purists on YNAB forums would prefer we didn't use it for forecasting) so I know that I can manage. I can tweak my Christmas budget and see how far it will stretch.

Luckily, the children all know not to expect any lavish presents this year and in fact two of them are really too old for lavish presents anyway. Maybe, just maybe, someone will buy ME a lavish present instead. :D Only joking, that'll never happen. :rotfl:

I have to be honest, I don't need much any more. The house needs stuff doing to it but I personally don't need much. I have amazed myself by how little I can spend when I put my mind to it. :T

No doubt, I will end up spending more this Christmas than I should BUT it will be without using credit cards and without letting things get out of control.

Oh, and while I suppose I could change utility supplier, I'm happy with the one I've got. Might be worth looking into other cashback possibilities though, will check that out. Thanks for the tip. :)
  • Hi p&f,

You sound so upbeat and focused its great to read :D

I have been applying for part-time jobs and feel i have faced much of the same difficulties as you ((hugs)) hon because i know it taked time and effort applying and if you're like me you might get a slight bit of hope up that thi one could work out x

Xmas - I just find it hard not to overspend on my mum - but thats because she does deserve spoiling - & that all the things she needs now are bigger / dearer. No idea what to get her this year as yet x

If you spot any good cashback deals do you wanna share the news? ;)

Hope you have a good week xx

  • Hi&if. Just popping in to say Hi. Hope you are well? How is your sleep going? I'm not quite so stressed now, but the hormones are still playing up. I'm making sure that I only have one coffee first thing then I go onto water, fruit tea and milk. I also try to exercise regular and eat healthily. Things have improved no end.

  • Hi everyone. :hello::D
Apologies for the long absence - but I'm back!!!!! :rotfl:

I've been doing fine actually, just haven't been posting on here or even lurking to be honest. I do that sometimes, go AWOL, but I posted my sealed pot results today (not brilliant but not bad considering the year I've had - see sig.) and thought I'd drop by and see how everyone is doing.

I will pop by everyone's threads soon but meanwhile it's PAYDAY tomorrow  and it's the last one before Christmas. I have already worked out my December budget and January as well - it's not looking too pretty but it's survivable. :D

Absolutely have to get a better-paid job in 2015 - preferably sooner rather than later.

Hope everyone is doing OK and looking forward to Christmas. :xmassmile:xmassign:
