  • I'm going to combine the financial and other targets into one post. As August was such a dismal failure, I will probably repeat a lot of those targets.

Financial targets - raise a total of £350 in the following ways:
    Freelance work - £300
    Ebay & other selling - £50

    Other targets:
    1. Lose 4 pounds in weight and start weight training again.
    2. Finish decluttering the garage.
    3. Sort out the back flower bed.
    4. Weed the garden like a crazy person
    5. Get out mountain-biking again.
    6. Go for 4 small walks, 1 long walk every week.
    7. Get back into studying for my Microsoft certification
    8. Get a Christmas job.
    9. Get all paperwork filed / shredded / generally organised
    10. Re-seed / patch up the wilderness we call a lawn.
Really and truly these things should be do-able, I just need to try a wee bit harder. I just hate selling stuff on ebay etc. but it is handy money all the same so I think I will persevere for another while.

    That's it, that's September planned out. :j
  • I thought I'd do a quick update on today, seeing as I haven't posted a daily update for a while.

It was supposed to be a day of getting housework done but it somehow degenerated into a day of doing very little, faffing about and generally being lazy. I can kind-of forgive myself on the basis that I had a terrible night's sleep, awake half the night, bit of a dicky tummy.

Today, I am feeling very tired and rather down. I sometimes have days like that and I would like to have a lot fewer of them, I feel like I've achieved absolutely nothing. :(

    The good:
    • Yummy baked chicken in garlic and lemon for tea - home-grown garlic, served with home-grown griddled courgettes and baked tomatoes.
    • Fabulous bag of goodies delivered to me from the local allotment including home-made jam.
    • Really awesome feedback on ebay from my two most recent sales. :T
    • Finally sorted out the washing that's been hanging around (geddit?) all week.
    The bad:
    • Did almost nothing productive at all today.
    • The rest of the family did even less - and that's par for the course.
    The ugly:
    • Some of the outdoor tomatoes have blight and will need to be ripped out tomorrow.
I am going to have an early night - tomorrow is a brand new day. :)
  • Hi p&f :D

I am sorry i have not been round for a while - but i am back now :)

I wouldn't worry too much that you didn't achieve your targets last month - you know what you want to achieve and you're committed to achieving them as you've set them again :)

Maybe we can cheer each other on with our goals ? I've lost some weight too - but still not near target

Hope you get a good nights sleep x

Thanks DDFW, great to hear from you. :)

Yes, we can cheer each other on. With the weight I reckon I could do with losing maybe another stone.

And maybe I didn't QUITE get the early night I promised myself, seeing as I'm not in bed yet ........:o
  • Of course I shall stick around. When I resolved to read all the way to the end I was deciding to stick around ;)

Regarding the targets... maybe they were a bit ambitious, and the fact that you started the month thinking they were unachievable was your downfall. This month looks far more achievable and therefore you won't be put off at the very beginning! :o that is my thinking anyway! You can do it!!!

I'm terrible at early nights at the minute. And my little un is great with the early mornings. So last night the laptop went off at 7:57 and I went to BED, lights out, altogether in bed. I was awake by 6, ready for the day and said little un (jellytot) was not awake until 7:37 :) bliss!

I could do with losing more than a stone. I just don't have the willpower...

Same with the day of housework. I put oven cleaner in the oven at 2pm yesterday... I just cleaned it back out :o

  • Hi P&F

I haven't really been around lately so am catching up and delurking.

Just wanted to say that you are doing better than me. My targets have gone blurghhhh! But I'm holding on, had some serious motivation from Lilt, so wanted to pass a bit on.

I've also just read a few of your recent posts and they are really spurring me on. Thanks :)

  • Well, today was MUCH better. :T
I did loads of housework, both bathrooms clean and shiny, utility-room and kitchen all cleaned up and floors mopped, did 3 loads of washing - all heavy stuff that dried in no time in the lovely sun today, vacuumed and dusted the sitting-room, hall and our bedroom. And finally dotted around the place some jars of flowers from the garden.

Then got rid of the blighty tomatoes, also pulled out the peas and mange-tout that should have been pulled out weeks ago, trimmed off some of the rusty-looking runner bean leaves, hope they will survive for another while, tidied up the tomatoes, and did a LOT of weeding. There's still a lot more to do in the garden, loads in fact, but it's a start. :)

Then I settled myself on the sofa with a coffee (decaff) and some chocolate to watch Strictly. Am off to bed very shortly and have tomorrow off. :j

Oh and although my August targets efforts were rubbish, the debt is going down and my career prospects improve week on week, so it's all good. :D
  • About Strictly - the group dance told me that Judy Murray absolutely cannot dance, at all, awful, no natural rhythm, worse than your granny at a wedding.

Jake Wood looked good, some nice hip movement going on there. And he's a nice guy, I saw him at a celebrity thingy once and he was very friendly to all around him.

Of the other men, Thom (swoon!), Simon and Mark all look good. Of the women, I think Caroline, Frankie and Pixie will all be good dancers. I think Allison will also be a great dancer and great entertainment. But she is a big girl and I think it's much harder to do well when you are twice as big as your man and they can't pick you up. But fair dues to her, she's already having a ball.

I must admit I'd never heard of Thom Evans - he was trending on Twitter earlier and my oh my did I get an eyeful when I scrolled down. Let's just say the man is not shy about putting it all out there. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
