I earlier heard someone saying that if you get locked out of your car just phone home to whoever is at home and get them to press the spare key fop down the phone to unlock the car
This is a Car Unlocking Myth and is totally UNTRUE I tried it today.

I held my key fob to my phone and recorded it then played it back to the car - the fob made no tone whatsoever0 -

Remote car keys operate on a frequency of around 400Mhz, a telephone has a bandwidth of around 300Hz to 3500Hz - therefore 400MHz will not go through a telephone.
