I agree with M2O. The thing with spending £10 a day is practise. The more you try to keep within the budget the easier it is.
I also go with £10 a day spends (this also includes my travel to work) and have been for nearly 18 months. This is actually a huge increase from my uni days, but sometimes I still blow the budget. Last month by about £70 (£50 was taking advantage of a deal on medical supplies)!
Anyway, keep up the good work! Rooting for you.0 -
Thanks killerpeaty... It's good to hear that you are able to stick to this budget and that you have for so long. It gives me hope!
Epic fail today. Not a NSD. Spent £4 on utter rubbish at work. In my defense, I was having an awful day! First day back after a while and my beloved colleagues had as per usual not left things at all organised so spent the day playing catch up...
Still haven't bought food for tomorrow, I wonder if I could get up early and stop off in a supermarket en route... I must try.
Must also try to get some sleep...

Darned brother in law! I got him a mobile phone in my name when he came to the UK. All was well for a month and this month he's been texting abroad and getting odd £3 charges on it. Wish I'd never tried to help him now! Will print the bill off at work today and show him the error of his ways....
Hoping for a quiet day at work today, got some admin type bits to do... Will also try really hard to not spend much money (lunch does need to be bought). Will stop in a supermarket on the way home and get stuff for tomorrow though.
Hope everyone has a good day xxLBM early Jan 2013. Debt to clear at LBM (£25,804) £15,187. Barclaycard £1980 Unsecured Natwest loan £7216. Virgin Money £5991 (@0% until Aug 2015). Natwest credit card £0. Halifax overdraft £1000.0 -
Delurking quickly to say, is your bil's phone a smartphone? Caf he download whatsapp/bbm/Facebook to use their chat functions to text abroad (assuming the other end has one of those apps too!). Might be worth a look into xHouse Fund: £2,800/£20,000 - 14%

Thanks kjp, he has those things, think he has just been spending too much time fiddling around on it, he rarely puts it down! Going to tackle the issue in a mo...
A so/so money saving day today. Spent £4 on food. Only got tomorrow to go at work and I can get back on track again. Sounds a bit lame I know but I am just so tired this week and seem to be struggling with everything!

Got the £10 bil had wasted on silliness on his phone

NSD today
OH paid me today
Need to go to the bank tomorrow to query why £150 I paid into their machine last week never showed in my account. Hope this doesn't turn into a drama and that I get it back!
Further potential money saving operation tomorrow, need to trek across town to hand in some forms to HR so I can do over time now and then.
Once the banking issues are sorted, I need to pay my credit card bill. Just minor payments on it in order to get cashback

Good moneysaving stuff today:
Got my money back from the bank
Got L'Occitaine freebies as recommended on the freebies board
Free coffee from Waitrose
Took sandwich to the gym to save buying one out
Got a free Sky on demand adapter that I'd applied for
The Bad:
Spent £25 on lunch and drinks
Spent £5 on bread/ice cream in the corner shop.
Didn't hand my forms into HR.
I'm annoyed about spending the money, but then again there is still hope that I will reach pay day just about within budget. I'm on 4 days off so just need to avoid doing the same tomorrow. I have a £20 Ask Italian voucher so may have a meal on that with OH. I will hand those pesky forms in tomorrow.
I can feel myself drifting off target, and theres still 13 days to go until payday. I must be strong! Off to watch TV and eat my icecream now

OH phone bill was £30 more than normal. What is it with these boys?! Its due to listening to music on youtube all the time so we'll have to sort the iPod out for him instead. So annoying!!
Since I'm awake nice and early, will get up and at 'em, need to go to the gym and do a few chores around town...
I have £110 in the budget left to last till pay day (12 days away) More if OH pays me for his astronomical phone bill. We shall see. Means I must spend very very little...

Spent £6.60 in Ask on top of my voucher. £25 in Waitrose but got loads of bargains (all essential items) and actually my bill should have been £22 more expensive so I was happy.
Renewed my library books so as not to incur fees and handed the darned forms into HR.
OH and I have agreed to have a minimal spends day tomorrow which I'm very happy about.
OH took the iPod of his own accord and says he knows he's been silly with his phone, nice not to be the only one money saving!

Good things today:
Went to the gym
Studied
Watched a movie with OH instead of just flicking through the channels
Only spent £7
11 days to go till pay day. Looking forward to this 'challenge' being over and starting afresh...
Plan for tomorrow- get up early with OH when he goes to work, gym and study. Also buy food for next 3 days at work.
