I have three cats. Having ornaments as well is not an option!

I'm not one for ornaments. On my fireplace are three rugby trophies belonging to DD and DS (one of which is going back to the club in May, and I haven't got around to putting the other two in their rooms) and I've got a small cauldron (?) and a dragon which you put incense cones into and then smoke comes out of them :o:D. There's enough clutter in this house without adding to it!

I'm not one for putting photos on display either - I take loads of photos and videos, but I look through them on my laptop, I don't see the point of putting them up, even the ones of the kids, although I do have a school photo of them in my bedroom, and one on my desk in work.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

No ornaments in my house, just two valuable sculptures. My ma's house put me off ornaments for life.
I've counted sculptures as ornaments. To me an 'ornament' is anything that doesn't have a practical use (other than giving aesthetic/visual pleasure).
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

We have cats and the odd thing, little that's purely inrnamentsl but lots that is functional but more ornamental than they need to be.

Not much clutter, but as for the dusting I enjoy it, its one of the opportunities to enjoy the beauty of these things.

one of the decanters we have on a side board was found in pieces. It was in the middle of a grouping of them, so it could have been a cat, but I think it might have been a fault or crack from clumsy treatment that had caused it to shatter at a later date.

I am very grateful it was empty at the time!

We are only just getting some of our ornaments back out now that our little girl is 3 1/2 - they all had to get packed away when she started to walk. Some stuff is on top of tall cabinets, which means she can't reach it, but we can't really see them either!

Got bronzes of a chameleon and an African wild dog (and one of a dung beetle waiting for me in South Africa when we go in 2 weeks). Assorted cacti and succulents. A 4 foot high candle.

I've got my chrome and glass art deco cocktail trolley back out, but the liqueur dispenser (awesome American chrome gadget!) and my lovely glasses will be in the loft for a long time yet as I would be heartbroken if anything happened to them as many are antiques or pretty irreplaceable. The toddler loves my cocktail cabinet already and enjoys it when we unlock it and she can see the lights come on and all the reflections in the mirrors and all the pretty bottles. She often asks to have some of the olive picks, jiggers, shakers and umbrellas out - and makes drinks for her toys. Truly her mother's daughter! One of her favourite drinks is a virgin mojito, my replacement to a 'real' cocktail when I was pregnant.

Very few photos are out, just a couple of toddler as a baby and one of our wedding - me, husband and Elvis.

I have ornaments but am not overly cluttered - the way I view it is that I live in a home and not an operating theatre. I have art on the walls and these are two large photographs that are a memento of a trip to Australia and the photographs were taken by a famous photographer. I have other artworks dotted around the house too.

Thankfully I don't have any Doulton figurines because they leave me stone cold.

Don't have any Doulton or stuff like that........ But have a few ornaments, which are basically memories, as we don't buy a lot of clutter, so they tend to be special to us.

I don't like family photos etc., so we just have art work on the walls.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

We don't have any ornaments as such, not the traditional kind like Royal Doulton, figurines, ceramics etc, apart from one Japanese Giesha Girl with a parasol.

The rest of the things we have in the living room are chrome candle holders and a chrome vase. A set of 3 mini storage drawers with hearts on to open the drawers, a chrome heart dish. 2 Moroccan lamps, one on each plinth either side of the fireplace. (They are built into the grate instead of a mantelpiece). I have a cute 'Nuts about' peanut which says 'Nuts about my daughter' off my Dad (which I absolutely love!) and a few other nick knacks.

One of my favourite pieces (well I guess you could class it more as a piece of furniture?) is a vintage style record player which also has a CD, tape and radio built in too. Behind the record player I have my Beatles, Cyndi Lauper and Motley Crüe records! I love vintage furniture and have a 1950's sideboard.

So the room is an eclectic mix of old and new.

I don't have any photos up either (they are in the hallway, but not many), and I thought that people might think it weird, but looking at some of the posts here, I've been reassured!

My latest thing to go on the grate along with various candles is a really cute old fashioned black hod carrier that stores long matches. My Mam bought me it, and it fits in well as the fire is black.

I just have 3 books out at the moment.

In our sitting room we have one wall that is a bookcase. It holds books, cds, jigsaws and a couple of meaningfull 'ornaments'. Window ledges and a sideboard have family photos on. Mostly in silver frames and in need of a quick polish. These are important memorabilia of our life. I can be pretty confident that will have them in my sight and main living space for as long as I live. They give me pleasure way beyond anyone else's idea of style or the cost of an occasional dusting.

In our kitchen we have a large glass fronted dresser, the top shelf of which is filled with a fabulous artdeco tea set, bought and brought back from France 20 years ago because it was beautiful. In the sitting room off the kitchen, on a windowledge we have an heirloom clock and some clarice cliff pieces.

Other displayed treasure includes a badly made clay model that my dad made - he was relatively young when he died, I have nothing else of his, it is on a windowledge in the portch.

On the walls we have watercolours/pastels/oils - marine subjects, our dogs, OHs two favourite pubs, local village scenes.

It is all 'brought together' by a generally comfortable, well lived in, in need of a lick of paint and log fire ambience.

You can always tell when my neighbour opposite has visitors. Her cabinet of Swarovski crystal has the lights turned on and the curtains get left open. I can just see it through all the Lladro china on her windowsill. I sometimes joke to my husband that it's a good job I loathe both of them otherwise that's what he could be living with in his lounge!

Whoops, just read this again, I don't loathe my neighbours, just her choice in ornaments!
