The only ornament I have is a mini llama from Peru

No ornaments in my house whatsoever apart from two small vases on my fireplace. In my living room the only thing you could call ornamental is a vase of flowers. Every weekend I buy a small bunch of flowers to fill a space in the corner.
I'd like a picture on the main wall in my living room to break up the space but ive yet to find the right one. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

William Morris (the Victorian interior designer) said — 'Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful' and to that end went on to create all those wonderful patterns for wallpaper and fabrics.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I don't have any ornaments either. Hate the things. Just clutter everywhere.
It's so easy to dust as there is nothing on the ledges/fire place. No shelves full of tat clogging up the walls.
Ahh so calming!0 -
Dusting's overrated.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

Calling your books ornaments! Only yesterday I read an article about arranging books in colour blocks, it's the latest interior design thing apparently.:(
My home is what you might call 'country house' style, so think squashy sofas and old wooden furniture. I have far too many ornaments. I've pared them down as far as I can so all that's left are pieces of sentimental value (family heirlooms, memories, special gifts).
What I don't like is this idea of 'dressing' your home so that you have a feature wall in, say, green so you have to go out and buy a green painting and a green vase. Tacky IMO but each to his own.0 -
I'm not one for ornaments either I'm afraid. There are a few bits and bobs given to us as pressies on a small table, but they're there for practical reasons - keys in one, a small silver clock, pound coins in a small box for emergencies......and I agree with Brighton belle - also the dust doesn't get any worse after two years...!0

Im not sure whether they would be called ornaments but I have some stuff that Ive been given as presents, not china or figures of people or dogs but my brother goes to Turkey yearly to a resort where they help the street cats and Ive a few handmade gifts that the charity sells, some candles, a few plants and someone I know sells jars that she puts spiritual messages on, Ive got a few of them.
Im not into traditional ornaments but I do have some items in my living room that mean something to me and have them dotted around.0 -
With having two of the clumsiest cats in the world, I'm not particularly keen on having many ornaments around the house. I've got a set of three elephants that I like in my living room but that is all that I would really want. My MIL thinks differently and keeps giving all her old ones to me. DH then wants to keep them as they are sentimental for him. They're up in the back bedroom just now, out of the way!0

No ornaments in my house, just two valuable sculptures. My ma's house put me off ornaments for life..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0
