sorry to see you are still battling to get funds converted.

i should have known.. they have taken the rest of the fee from my ISA:mad:

Put money in your trading account to cover it and then tell them to put the money back in your ISA that they have withdrawn. I did that the first year when they took it out of my SIPP without any prior notification and they replaced it.

I think my biggest gripe with II is the lack of communication.

But, if it’s going to take a few weeks or months, then they really should communicate with us. It’s basic customer service, and I’m sure would save them a lot of time answering messages from customers like ourselves who naturally start to worry that there is some sort of problem, or that they have just forgotten.

This is so true. So much time and energy could be saved, not to mention stress averted, if they would just communicate, and things would be sorted out so much quicker. I have sent so many messages on several issues over the past month and then finally today I rang up on a completely different matter and the person who was supposed to be dealing with my issues happened to answer my call (just after I had fired off an angry email to Julie Baxter!!) ;) He didn't really seem to have any answers at the beginning of the call but from 10 minutes of our discussing the issues on the phone and him then looking into what we discussed, from the message he sent me a little while later it appears we have pretty much resolved the issues. Why could this not have been done in the first place?!

thanks julia, but as masonic suggests, perhaps they will refund my ISA and charge my SIPP instead, thereby allowing tax relief to fund part of the fee.. if we are going to stick with iii for their pricing, we might as well squeeze the very best deal we can:cool:

Yes, I'm sure they will agree to do that if you ask them. I just wanted to use my full SIPP contribution as I can only invest the minimum!

    Hi all,

Apologies if this gets asked a lot! Trying to decide on a low-cost SIPP provider, and have the field narrowed down to AJ Bell Youinvest and III.

AJ Bell looks a little bit more costly but not disastrously so. Conversely I am getting the impression that III is a bit more painful to deal with, and won't deal with your W8 BEN for you for US stocks.

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations either way in terms of tools/service etc? I will mainly be looking at fund/UK and international equities, from the outside it looks like both providers have similar scope on these fronts.

    Cheers!

I wouldn't have thought that you needed to ask, if you've read the posts in this thread. I moved from TrustnetDirect (which, apart from their slick Website, is sub-contracted to III) to AJ Bell and am very glad that I did.

Thanks - certainly got the impression from this thread that III aren't great, but didn't know if AJ Bell were the same or worse!

I have had a large iii ISA for over 6 years and am reasonably happy. For £100K its £80/year which includes 8 trades against about £250/year for AJ Bell. They may not handle US share paperwork - if you want to go into the esoteric use H-L or AJ Bell. But for straightforward UK shares and funds iii is fine.

PS looks like YouInvest is 2%/year now - they must have cut their prices
