It isn't just that they make mistakes which we have to spot. It is the huge effort that it takes to actually persuade them they are wrong on even the most obvious error.
Took me ages to persuade them the tax voucher should show the funds rebate/tax. Now on 4th version which they assure me is correct but then they said that about the others too0 -
I know.....I had to draw their attention to HMRC's pages on the taxation of UK REITS and to explain the concept of a Notice Cash ISA.....
Things might improve..."hope springs eternal" and all that!
Happy Christmas to you all!:A
If they really don't even understand the concept of a Notice Cash ISA then I honestly don't think there is any hope, eternal or otherwise. That is absolutely shocking!!0 -

From one of their messages:-
"You state there is a 40 day notice period, can you confirm when this date begins? Have you already made the notification to ....... Are we to wait 40 days before requesting the transfer?"
I replied,
"Your team should send the Transfer Request to .... who should send the £... requested to you forty days from the date of their receipt of the transfer request.
Assuming that .... receive the request by 23 October, I would anticipate that you would receive the money for credit of my account during the first week in December."
Alas, the transfer request had to be made three times (see previous) so I am hoping for end December.......:)0 -
i still have some investments with iii.co.uk:
some shares and funds in an ISA
a few shares in a Trading Account
a fund in a SIPP
i have been investing elsewhere, but have never got round to moving the above.. partly based upon the market. i was thinking i might take some profits on some shares, thereby simplifying, before transferring:think:
if someone wanted to hold just one fund in an ISA, such as an MFM fund, would iii.co.uk be a good value place to hold it?0 -
well I would say they are good value, but know that if you ever need their help on anything you will find their "help" is not helpful and can take a long time to reply. And if your question is too hard to answer it will either be ignored, or they will give you a complete pack of lies.
And this is from experience, all this has happened to me with II, and many others in this thread. Which is why it's now 79 pages long. :eek:0 -
It depends on how you define 'good value' - yes, II are cheap, but what price do you put on your own time and your sanity?! There are other providers who are only a little more expensive but a lot more professional. If you just wanted to hold one fund in an ISA you might be better off with a percentage based fee structure than a flat fee such as II - depends on the size of your holding I suppose.0

so I am hoping for end December.......
Pleased to report that my ISA transfer has reached my II account....:T0 -
I have BG shares in my ISA with II. I believe there is an option to exchange the cash consideration for Shell B shares. HL used to advise me of such options so I await a Secure Message from II. On the other hand I might be better phoning them tomorrow and keeping my fingers crossed that they follow my instructions!0

HL used to advise me of such option
Relative holds BG in HL and has heard nothing yet.0 -
A couple of question about II
My annual tax statement has been reissued 29/12/15. This is the third statement (consecutive months) and I really struggle now to devote the time and effort to do line by line checks on everything this company does. Though I will have to eventually. Does anyone know if they have got it right at last?
I have had notification that some of my funds are being converted to clean units. The first one was dated 17 December (Aberdeen emerging Markets) and it hasn't happened yet. How long is this currently taking, and do I really have to check all this as well? Will they provide the information to do so by providing the unit prices on conversion? In the past I would have taken this on trust?0
