    "relative"?

I've the two of them with II accounts - one has a complaint outstanding, the other is going on without problems except the usual late dividends.

My account is finally (after many a secure message/letter) in order.

The transfer of cash from my Notice cash ISA has not gone smoothly but how much of the blame lies with II and how much with the other provider is difficult to establish - II maintain that it was only after they sent the request by recorded delivery (third time of asking....) that a response was received.

The other provider maintains that the third request was the only one they received but how would anyone know?

At all events, the transfer should take place at the end of this month --- we'll see.

I'm not dependent on receiving the dividends on time and the "service" certainly saves me money compared with what I would be paying to HL.

Certainly II is a huge money saving compared with HL but what price do you put on your time and wellbeing? You say your account is finally in order after many a secure message but each time I think that something else crops up. As to the allocation of blame between II and the other provider for the mess up of the transfer of your cash ISA, I know where I would be placing my bet because I have heard it all before and the common denominator in every case is always II. I told you at the time you announced your intentions that you must have a death wish....,..:D
  • This is damaging ii. I opened an account last night, found this thread, closed the account this morning. I have £200,000 of funds to shelter plus pensions. Thanks all.

    You did, you did.....:o

Mind you, to be fair to II, when I rang the other provider about the matter, the initial response was that I should have contacted them to initiate the transfer.....

As you may imagine, I drew attention to the rules and asked to speak to a manager and after that the transfer process did begin.

I'll update at the end of the month.

Can I take it then that You Invest would be the preferred option of many posters on here???

    Any downsides to YouInvest???

I think it's quite hard to decide on what platform to choose. I've learned that cost is not the only factor to take into account. My experience so far with Youinvest has been good but it's early days.

I see that SAGA have started an Investment platform.
Not much cheaper than HL but iwas looking at the bands of investment related to ISAs and I noticed that :
    0 to 15K is 0%

    15k to 250k is 0.4%

    250k to 1 million is 0.2%

Now I've always 'assumed that if you invest say 260k your costs would be 0.2% on the 260k, I've 'assumed' this with all platforms.
But it appears with SAGA and probably all platforms which are banded that if you ivest 260k the first 15k is free then up to 250k is at 0.4% and the last 10k is at 0.2%.

Am I correct in that and does that apply to all platforms which have banded costs????

It akchewlee makes a big difference as to whether I stay with HL which is 0.45 whatever the investment.

Or have I got this wrong.
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.
  • Well, their 5th attempt at a consolidated tax voucher is finally correct and I received this message:-

'With regards to future years' CTVs, our senior management team are in discussions to improve this aspect of the business so that your CTV can be issued to you at an earlier date. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused due to this delay in production. We acknowledge there have been failings on our part with regards to CTVs and we are reviewing our internal processes to improve the service for our clients in the future. Thank you for your continued patience while we worked on resolving the issue.'

Not holding my breath but we can live in hope.....

As to dirty to clean fund conversion, I was told that they would be starting the conversion of 3 of my funds 'from' 17th December......not a dickybird as yet!! :rotfl:

it varies for different providers. some charge 1 percentage on the first £250k (or on the first however much), and a lower percentage on the next bit - i.e. they have tiered charges; others charge a lower percentage on the whole amount invested when your investments go over a £250k - i.e. not tiered.

also, note that, if you have several accounts with the same provider (e.g. ISA, SIPP, taxable), some of them work out the charges separately for each account; but others consider all yours accounts together when working out the charges. the latter approach is more favourable to you.

so you need to read their charges carefully!

i think that "saga investment services" are saying that they use tiered charges, separately for each account. their site says "powered by tilney bestinvest", and the charges appear very similar to bestinvest's charges, except with a temporary free offer on the first £15,000.
It akchewlee makes a big difference as to whether I stay with HL which is 0.45 whatever the investment.

HL charges do go to a lower percentage after £250k (using tiered charges, separately for each account).

however, if you have enough invested in funds to reach a higher tier (e.g. £250k+), a fixed-fee platform will generally be a lot cheaper for you (and iii is not the only fixed-fee platform :)).
