miserable me

I just feel the need to have a moan and thought maybe you could lend an ear for old moanin'minnie, last saturday was my 50th birthday and it was the most miserable birthday I have ever had, firstly things between me and my oh have been very strained lately and on my birthday I did'nt even get a card or a "happy birthday" from him, my kids (grown up ) bought me nice presents but didnt really make anything special out of my birthday, I feel so let down by everyone as I am the one who tries to make everyone elses birthday special, I am not belittleing the lovely presents that I got as I really do appreciate them. Why does other people get surprise birthday parties, taken out for nice meals etc? is it just my family have no imagination, as for my oh does he really not care enough to even say happy birthday to me, apart from that he has not spoke to me all week as if this is all my fault and hes the one whos been done wrong to. These things have been eating at me all week and I feel so alone and uncared for, thanks for lending an ear while I let off some steam!!

A bit cliched but why not get out and about and find a new hobby- you'll meet lots of new people, and may find your old self- I assume you weren't always this down in the dumps?

well first of all, (((((big hugs))))) to you

my OH hasn't bothered with my birthday or xmas for the last 3years, and it's my 40th at the end of the year. i'm already getting depressed about turning 40, and it doesn't help matters does it when they can't even make a bit of fuss for you?

so you're not on your own hun.

hope things start looking up for you soon xxxxx

((((hugs)))) Moan away, moanin' minnie. :) I can understand why you're feeling hard done by. Does your OH usually make any effort or do you think it's because things are a bit strained between you? If he's done it before, maybe he's just not good at organising things like that (I know i'm not, and I feel terribly guilty about it).

I forgot to say that my dh is hopeless too. I never got a card or a present for years. On my 30th that changed, and he bought me a Dyson! I could have hit him over the head with it! My 40th is coming up next year. I dread to think what he'll get me for that.
  • thanks for the replies its good being able to get it off your chest, I forgot to say that I did'nt even get a card from my sister (my only sister) which really gutted me, makes me feel am I that easy to forget?

Awwwwww so sorry to hear that.

If that was me i would feel exactly the same.

Did your family know it was your 50th? maybe they didnt realise? I know when i get busy i need reminding!

Maybe talk to your husband and tell him how you feel and how it made you feel when he didnt give you a card.

Also why dont you treat yourself to a new hair do or massage or something.

    Happy birthday! :)
  • oh yes, my oh knew alright, he has been "in a mood " for weeks now ,ie; does'nt talk to me or acknowledge me in any way, he was in the house on friday night when ds2 brought my pressie round so he cant say that he didnt know. He delibrately did'nt get me anything, I have been married to him for too long not to know what he's like, I wish I had the ba**s to leave him but Im such a coward.
