Thanks for the ideas. We had milkshakes tonight and will probably (hopefully) use the rest up on breakfast! Rice pudding sounds interesting! Haven't got a lot of time at the moment but will bare it in mind in the future!

tend not to buy YS cheese because can't think of a use!
    !

You can always grate hard cheese like cheddar and freeze in plastic freezer bags. I wouldn't use it for sandwiches after freezing 'cos I imagine it wouldn't be as nice as fresh, but it's fine for cooking (cheese sauce, on homemade pizza or in quiches) and I use it straight from frozen (no need to thaw).:)

Gooseberries (1lb) was going to make jam but not so sure as got given a hamper of homemade goodies for Christmas and on a diet (supposedly). Any nice, easy puddings that uses a lb of gooseberries?
How about making gooseberry sauce. Really good with oily fish such as mackerel or even tuna. You could make Gooseberry Fool. Sure you'll find the recipes on-line somewhere.

I'm stocked up and stuff so I'm not struggling, just mucked up the money side totally :(
I'm so annoyed at myself, I really need to focus but I know the issue, and it's that I don't really meal plan too much.

Maybe you could get a large clip in the kitchen and just get into the habit of sticking EVERY receipt on there when you empty the shopping. That way you can have an add-up every weekend when you have a minute ;)

Had another NSD today and hopefully tomorrow :j

Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday

Hey guys, can I join in? :)

Me and OH tend to go shopping when we think we are running out of food, but tend to spend £30-odd on bits and snacks, then need to go again a couple of days later.
We've challenged ourselves to spend no more than £20 a week and we'll see how we go. So that gives us £60 for the rest of the month. We're not including dog food or cleaning stuff in that, dog food is usually cheap enough, and we only buy washing powder etc when we really need it. Food is the problem!

    NSD yesterday GC wise

Today will be a spend day as I'm am heading to the parents for a few days and as I will be introducing them all to SW food I have planned a menu and will buy 60% of bits needed for it (not much more that I would usually buy for our house so no extra from budget)

I have bubs at the docs for her 6 week check today and it's market day so the shopping list is:
Co-op: check for the new mullerlight flavour and buy if available (6 for £2 should be running)
Lidl: roasted vegetable cous cous sachets, possibly some veggies depending on what they have in
Market: apples, bananas, satsumas, pineapple, potatoes, onion, cucumber, large tomatoes, small mushrooms, carrots
Tesco: mullerlights if none in coop, lettuce, large flat mushrooms, beetroot, mince, salmon fillets, kidney beans, tinned tomatoes, sweetcorn, ryvita, cottage cheese, 400g loaf, bacon, own brand cereals

should come to around £25 I think, based on usual prices on our market and how much meat used to cost me per portion. Mum has said they will pay for the meat if I'm buying the rest but if I can keep costs down I won't let him :)

Have been out and done my top up shop including fruit and veg from the market and have spent £22.33. I also topped up my stock of loo rolls as was down to the last roll and it's definitely not something I want to run out of, LOL!

    Will update signature shortly.

Forgotten to update the thread with my spends for May, so here we are:

Weekly shop on 6th (Wk 1) - £13.66 in Ald!
Today - local shop for milk first thing - £1.39
Weekly shop today (Wk 2) - £27.11 in Ald!

    Total £42.16/£100

Not too bad and on track for the month. We're hitting the season where DS doesn't like summer food (salads, quiche, etc), so I've batch cooked plenty of chilli, curry and bolognaise and bought a few different things for him.
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18
