Still haven't been to the shops this week! Woohoo! I'm itching to buy more flour though. We don't *need* any, as we have a bit of gluten free flours in the house as well, which worked really well for toad in the hole last night.

Surprisingly, we aren't really 'out' of much, just vinegar (for cleaning), plain flour, and plain chicken breasts. I have asked DH to pick up a beef roast from SB on his way home tonight (and nothing else!) because they are £5.49/kg at the moment. Also, a beef roast that size will typically do 10-12 servings here, so definitely worth that price.

I'll update once he gets home with a receipt.

  • Hi everybody, I've been off the radar a bit the last few weeks as started a new position at work, have been doing long days and learning everything has been so exhausting! Haven't been keeping an eye on the grocery spends so have just added up the month so far.

It's not looking good, have so far spent £164.66 from a £220 budget :o with just over 2 weeks left there is still plenty in the freezer to do meals, but it's lunches where I really spend the money! I'm not back at work until Wednesday (loving long weekends!) so I need to make a full list of what we have in (keep forgetting to update as I buy) and try and plan lunches from what we have, as well as meals.

I picked up a Sun newspaper the other day for the Aldi voucher, so I hope to go there on Monday or Tuesday to make the most of that. We will be at my parents for the next couple of days as it is their 40th wedding anniversary, we will be going out for meals but that is a different budget so the GC won't be taking a hit!!

  • HI, Managed to spend £120 this week, have got nappies / washing powder etc for the month though. Had far too many trips to the SM's which is why my spend is so high but no reson to go other than the main shop this week.

I made a meal plan and stuck to it too, will be doing that again over the weekend and hoping I have a few meals in the freezer so I can reduce spends over the next 3 weekend shopping days. Still trying to increase the amount of HM meals but with fussy children it is not so easy, although they are quite happy to have roast dinner every night which isn't too bad I suppose.

Have my Aldi voucher ready for tomorrow, managed to get 2 - woo hoo ;)

We had another takeaway this week at £10.97 and Mr.T at £5.90. We went out for lunch today so that was another £27.83.
Really need to be more careful with spends but difficult with DD being off school for Easter holidays. Next week DH off work so prob have days out which will mean yet more spends.

Need to go to Lidlll tomorrow so will be another spend day. Surely I can't go over and be as bad as I was last month!

Hope everyone else is doing well?

So far this month. I have bought:

    Bacon (£2)
    Loaf (ys 19p)
    Bread rolls (£1.50)
    Eggs (£1)
    Margarine (£1)
    Milk (£2)

    = £7.69!

And I still have 2 shelves of tins, pasta and rice, 1/2 a tub each of flour, porridge oats and mini shredded wheat and an entire freezer of food!

I'm slightly over where i should be at this stage in the month. I may have to adjust my budget upwards a little next month as DH and I have decided to aim for 7 veg and fruit a day instead of 5.

Yesterday I made two loaves of bread and a lemon Madeira cake (using up some leftover lemon juice!). I found a loaf tin in the pound shop. I bought it because when I normally do this recipe I have to bake one Piaf and then use the same tin for the second loaf meaning the oven is on for over an hour. I thought this way I can put them in at the same time! All three ended up going in together.
    NSD for me too!
