NSD today, but will need to go to Ald! tomorrow to use the £5 off voucher, and have a couple of T3sco vouchers that run out soon.

    Meal plan for this week:

Monday: sweet potato and chickpea curry with popadoms and rice - bought a jar of Sainsbobs Basics curry sauce to try it out, but I really didn't like it, especially the way it wobbled in the jar... It was 26p so very cheap, but will be sticking to Aldi's 79p jars in future, the Korma one especially is lovely.

Tuesday: Tomato, carrot and lentil sauce with pasta - made this sauce on the spur of the moment (1 chopped onion, 2 grated carrots, can of chopped tomatoes, ~100g lentils, handful of frozen peas) and I was impressed at how tasty it was, especially since I'd forgotten to put herbs or salt and pepper in it!

Wednesday: stir fry with noodles and spring rolls

Thursday: Chicken kievs with wedges and roasted veg

    Friday: HM calzone pizza

Saturday: Chicken liver pate to start, maybe lasagne for main, crumble for dessert

Sunday: creamy greek cheese and courgette pasta (from A Girl Called Jack)
Your meal plan sounds yum! I will try the pasta sauce!

Did my monthly stock up at farmfoods. Got quite a few bits of fruit and veg as it was cheaper than aldi. 20 apples for £1.50, cucumber for 39p, cherry toms 49p, bananas 75p, strawberries £1. Not at work next week so hoping my next weekly shop will be the middle of next week!
    Spent £55.90 (£50.90 with the £5 voucher I had)

physicsgirl- Your meal plan sounds yummy! How do you make calzone pizza? Do you just top the pizza and fold it in half and bake? I like calzone and I like to make my own pizza but have never thought to try it at home!

Thanks :o Yep, the calzone is just a normal pizza base, I put the toppings on half the pizza (but the tomato base on all of it), then fold the other half of the base over the toppings, press the edges together and roll/fold the edges up (it tends to leak if you don't!). Then bake for about the same time as usual but I tend to flip it half way through baking so both the upper and lower get brown and crispy :)

First shop of the month delivered today, and £40.55 spent. Won't need a lot for the rest of the month, although we're having a party over the Easter weekend and will no doubt spend on that.

Once again got caught by the supermarket being next to the post office, could have survived to the weekend quite happily but spend of £6.25 to add today. Got there at YS time though so got 2 big aubergines for a pound, potato salad for 30p, and 6 pittas for 14p. Everything was their value brand except ice cream, so feeling good about that even if I am 1/4 way through my budget, the cupboard was starting to look a little bare so stocked up on chopped toms etc.

Made pasta bake last night so going to stick a portion of that in an aubergine 'boat' with fake-feta (Sainsbugs 'greek cheese') for tea tonight, and make a big batch of aubergine curry for the freezer, and try out this harissa-aubergine-egg recipe at the weekend.

95p on milk for DS1 from A1di today.

Took a £1 coin out with me, and whilst I'm normally restrained enough not to pick up anything else (due to the fact I can buy fresh fruit, veg and milk and still declare an NSD, but anything else and I can't) I found this stopped me even being tempted to browse in there or sticking my head into anywhere else for a 'look-see'. Will be trying this tactic again when I know exactly what I'll be spending on what I need.

    Evening :)
My big shop day again today. Did quite well, which I should of done as did quite a stack up shop last week.
    Ald* - £20.45 / Morriss**s - £5.15 / Butchers - £20.22 / Local shop £1 wagon wheels , total spend £46.82
Butchers would of been cheaper but my beef joint was £15, but I am going to separate it and it will do us 2 Sunday dinners, maybe 3. I am hoping this way it will be cheaper than when I buy it weekly.
    Off to update my sig!
