year's food budget £1,9200 -
Week one shop done. There was quite a lot of stuff that needed using up so the bill this week was was a none to shabby £19.28.
£160.72/£180 remaining. I have done myself a simple spreadsheet to keep track of things this month. As long as I remember to add my receipts to it all should be easy to update. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Mrs.Cautious - glad that you do not have kidney disease but a vitamin b12 deficiency. I also have these jabs due to bouts of severe anaemia and hopefully they will in time help. I have one every 10-12 weeks depending on how tired I get.
Today has been a NSD but we have had a rethink of our budgets and aims. DH has already lost over 10 stone but since the beginning of this year he has stuck - a pound or two on one week then off again the next but no real movement so after talking to the sister at our practice we are going back onto the basis of the slimming world way of eating and are expecting a slight increase in spend however for April we are sticking to our much lower than normal budget and see what happens. If we go over we go over. On top of this I want/need to use up some stock that never seems to go down. If it happens to be a not so healthy food then we will have less of it to keep calories down and in this way we shouldn't resort to throwing money via food in the bin because its high in calories etc. hope this makes sense it does to me but then I wrote it. Lol x
Tonight we had grilled plaice, some boiled potatoes and salad. Plus lots of fruit for afters.
Your meal looks lovely, and so healthy. I am having a similar problem, as gone onto SW healthy eating I have so much high calorie stuff still to use up,
In particular I have several packs of cheap mince to use up and so far have managed to reduce the fat by first dry frying and straining and then pouring boiling water over it. but am really not sure if this is effective enough. and to be honest its a bit tasteless
unless I turn it into chilli.
Still it has to be used as I will not waste it
I also have a load of YS pastry and pies but I think I can pass that on to a slim friend or two.
I looked longingly at a piece of bellydraft this morning and did take it out of the freezer but resisted and put it back.Slimming World at target0 -
£1.68 spent on a reduced chicken in co-op.
I like their chickens and they aren't caged so that's good
Will be having roast for dinner now as couldn't pass that up!I'm C, Mummy to DS 29/11/2010 and DD 02/11/2013

How strange as tonight we are having some belly pork ourselves, however there are only 3 smallish slices of it and they will be grilled well then served with lots of stir fried veg and maybe some plain rice. I am not throwing it out and have been on plan all day and had no extras so should be ok as long as this doesn't happen every day. Have brought the new magazine and hope to be doing at least a couple of things from it in the next week.
I have never brought cheap mince (as far as I can remember anyway) but years ago I did cook most mince dishes up the day before then when they had cooled removed as much of the solidified fat as possible. I now go to a local butchers that supply various local hotels and pubs and have found I don't need to this any more as their mince is really good stuff.
By the way if you get any good recipes feel free to share them lolMARCH £62.38/2500 -

NSD today, but will need to go to Ald! tomorrow to use the £5 off voucher, and have a couple of T3sco vouchers that run out soon.
Meal plan for this week:
Monday: sweet potato and chickpea curry with popadoms and rice - bought a jar of Sainsbobs Basics curry sauce to try it out, but I really didn't like it, especially the way it wobbled in the jar... It was 26p so very cheap, but will be sticking to Aldi's 79p jars in future, the Korma one especially is lovely.
Tuesday: Tomato, carrot and lentil sauce with pasta - made this sauce on the spur of the moment (1 chopped onion, 2 grated carrots, can of chopped tomatoes, ~100g lentils, handful of frozen peas) and I was impressed at how tasty it was, especially since I'd forgotten to put herbs or salt and pepper in it!
Wednesday: stir fry with noodles and spring rolls
Thursday: Chicken kievs with wedges and roasted veg
Friday: HM calzone pizza
Saturday: Chicken liver pate to start, maybe lasagne for main, crumble for dessert
Sunday: creamy greek cheese and courgette pasta (from A Girl Called Jack)November GC: £50.55/£130. October GC: £72.60/£150
September GC: £131.27/£170. July GC: £62.48/£80. May GC: £135.00/£150
April GC: £201.91/£140. March GC: £194.98/£200. January GC: £111.41/£200.
December GC: £67.45/£80. Nov GC: £159.32/£220. October GC: £208.07/£250.0
