Phoned the other bank up spoke to a lovely lady who tried again and again it would not go through. She told me some card companys dont allow transfers and it seems new day is one of them. Hi, I have had a Debenhams store card for many years now and still in use, can you please if I can claim PPI on my account...0
-
If you had insurance you can claim Ppi, you can ring NewDay for the contact telephone number to talk about it but it's Santander who deal with ppi queries and complaints0

I checked my credit report earlier this week to find that I had 4 missed payments and my credit rating has gone from excellent to poor in a matter of months. The Company Newday who I had never heard of. I looked online rang Newday the next day, and they could not find any record of an account. I then received some post asking me to ring westcot credit agency. I rang them they verfied my address and put me through to newday dept recovery. Apparently I owe £218.00 for an insurance I allegedly took out when I bought a dfs sofa on credit. I was shocked to say the least as I paid the loan off with santander back in 2012. Unfortunately I don't have any of the agreements still to hand, and just could not understand why after paying it off in 2012 only now as I being chased for an insurance that I was still being charged for. Newday were extremely rude and patronising and told me it was my responsibility to cancel the insurance. Well I would of done if I knew anything about it. They told me the insurance was through GE finance and gave me the contact number and told me to ring them to cancel the insurance. I phoned GE Finance who then told me that they were not chasing the money it is newday and they should not be referring me to them. They gave me a different number for newday who I rang and this time was very helpful. They advised that it was due to a £10 charge for a PPI being added to the loan after it was paid off and the charge has escalated from there. They put it through to there escalations department and advised I would get a call back in 48 hours. I then received a call from New day debt recovery on Saturday. I thought it was my call back and oh no another rude, abrupt individual demanding that I now paid £228, already increased in 2 days!!! and if I did not pay it they are sending it to debt collectors. I advised what I was told before, she said there is no such thing as an escalations department and what I was told was wrong, and that Newday are paying GE finance £5.97 a month for the insurance and it is still running. She said I must ring GE Finance and get it cancelled. So I will ring them tommorow and see what happens there. They have put my account on hold for 7 days until I contact GE Finance. (How nice of them!!) I rang the helpful number I spoke to previously, and advised I was getting the complete run around. They advised it has been escalated, and it is being investigated. I now have a reference number of my escalation. It appears that I am dealing with 2 different departments but don't share the same account information!! I just cannot believe that newday expect me to hand over £228 to them when I didn't even know who they were until 2 days ago. I never received any letters or correspondance from them, I had no idea I had this insurance, and if I want copies of the documents they hold to support the outstanding sum I have to write to them and pay £10 for the privilege. Bearing in mind they have completely ruined my credit rating. They advised they took over from santander in Aug 14. I just don't understand that if there was anything outstanding on the loan amount why santander never contacted me from when I paid it off in Nov 12 until Aug 14. The whole thing just does not make any sense to me.
I just don't know who to contact first, dfs, santander, ge finance.0 -

As I've been out the country I obviously never received the original letter (why could that not have been sent as an email in the first place). At first I was pretty convinced the email was a phishing attempt so I very nearly deleted it, but then I went to login to my online card management and, lo and behold, the site is no longer available.
PayPay very rarely sent me paper statements, even when I was in the UK, and now I'm abroad I will have no idea what I need to pay and when. The email was from a no-reply address, and even email "support@..." failed. I went on to the newday web site and used the "contact us" page to send my concerns to the CEO office. So far I've not even had an acknowledgement of my message.
I will give it another couple of days then try and find a geographic number to contact them on (think there's one in this thread somewhere).
The year is 2014 and newday ltd seem to think it's acceptable to provide a financial 'service' with no online account management.
The card in question was cancelled a long time ago; I'm simply paying off the debt I incurred whilst the card was active.
I'm in the same situation as you, moving to the US caused havoc with my PayPal card when Santander took over, reading this thread and the transfer to NewDay is probably the reason I'm no longer receiving paper statements.
My account ended up being closed by Santander when they dropped the PayPal branding so I was in the position of just paying off the debt. For reasons I won't go into I got behind and the account was sent to collections, I made an agreement with them to pay 50.00 per month which would prevent the build up of interest.
I've been making these payments by DD for sometime but around the middle of 2014 I stopped receiving statements. I currently have no idea how much I owe, who holds the debt and who I should contact.
The DD is going from my UK bank account to the original account I was paying to PayPal UK, nothing changed. Maybe I will have to cancel the DD to get some form of communication from them again. One thing I am not doing is calling a high rate phone number from the US, sometime ago I pushed Santander and they eventually gave me a true land-line 01 number, not a rip-off non-geographic.
One good thing is that this account does not appear on my UK credit file so I still have a good score should I ever return to the UK. (Unlikely)
I would never knowingly deal with Santander but NewDay sound even worse.0 -
Just issued proceedings using Money Claim Online against Debenhams & Newday for Breach of contract and Negligence. We did everything right in store last month and now being chased for late payment plus penalty charge plus interest when we have confirmation of direct debit having been set up.0

Hi, Slightly hi-jacking this forum, but was wondering if anybody knows a contact number for NewDay from overseas? I have tried filling in their online contact form twice - but no response. The number provided can't be called from overseas.
I have a loan with them that I am pretty sure I should have stopped paying in October, but they keep taking money from me. Wary of cancelling the payment as this I am sure will affect my credit rating.
Any help is appreciated.0
