I know yangptangkipperbang, but what's wrong with suggesting something better? He's already found out that there can be connectivity (or lack of) issues with soundbars, and I did state that he could just use the front 3 speakers of he doesn't want wires all round the room.
Many AV amps these days (maybe excluding the very cheapest) will include the setup mics mentioned above, which can be very handy (but can also give rogue results in my experience).0 -

Does it have to come from the Argos catalogue?
If I were you I'd get myself along to a branch of Richer Sounds (or John Lewis) and listen to a demonstration and get the staff to fully explain the connections available.0 -
Thanks Money ,your absolutley right , it doesnt have to be Argos , no , its just convenient!Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Personally, I'd never buy any sound system without hearing it first..0 -
Excellent at this price point:

None of the Argos ones are any good as they only have 1 input. You would have to switch cables between the YouView and DVD all the time.
The superfi one, similarly, only has one optical input.
And please, no-one suggest connecting the optical to the TV...0 -
no one has linked to one with two inputs , have they ?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Really don't believe you will notice the difference with this low end gear by using the TV out, if one is available.
But if its important then why not just cost in buying a switch? not ideal but....0 -
