Just a note that the mobidata website and dataroam websites are appalling to try to set up and activate a sim, with continual freezing and wrong messages, such as Do you want to open or save the page. The sim number is also in tiny tiny numbers to try to read. I have spent over an hour in a public library trying to activate it, and still haven't succeeded, so lesson is activate the sim soon, not leave until you need it fast.

I already have my sim from MD and works perfectly in a Three dongle

Now I´m enjoying of the deal!
Mobidata gives no instructions with the sim on how to set up with a 3 dongle and I find that it does not work. Even if you have an alternative web access, new users may find the website is confusing and unhelpful.
  • I am trying to set up a sim card in an unlocked Huawei dongle. (Ex Vodafone).

    Help!!

I have set-up using the Android instructions and Mobile Partner opens up and shows Globalgig on the profile screen.

On clicking on "Connection", a dialogue box states that the device is disconnected and the Flashing Green Light on the dongle changes to a Flashing Blue Light.

Any thoughts on what to do to correct this would be appreciated.

I have a Mobi-data sim card in my mobile and after some teething troubles I am very satisfied. I was in Florida for 3 weeks and it only cost me an additional £5 - very reasonable.

    Regards in anticipation

Have you unlocked your ex-Vodafone modem? Once unlocked, you enter the APN: mbb.voiamo.net username and password remain blank. If you need to enter a Dial number, try *99#
  • I have used MobiData and it is absolutely excellent. It was off this morning (owing to storms overnight) but it suddenly came back on at 3.48 this afternoon. That is the only problem I have ever had. I get 2GB data for £4.94 a month. Ample for me, but not for those who wish to download films etc.
Finding out how much data you have used is easy -- download a free program called Networx . It is excellent. It gives you all the info you could ever want about your connection, with speed etc. Click on the Greek letter Sigma on the menu and it tells you your usage, by the week, or day, or month - whatever you want to know. Easy!
Also, Mobi-data will tell you when you have used half your allowance, and how much you have used from then on, but it is not detailed like Networx. Other programs are available. I have tried most of them but Networx is by far the best IMHO! I think Networx is from Softperfect com (just put in the dots).

    Hi all,

We've written a deal about the mobile broadband sim-only provider MobiData. It'd be great to get MoneySavers' feedback.
Ever since the demise of Ovivo Mobile I've been looking for a good value data-only SIM that can be used in a mifi device. Following MSE's recommendation I subscribed to a data SIM from MobiData. The offer of of a start-up totally free 100MB monthly allowance looked very tempting.

Unfortunately I found a few drawbacks:
    1. Despite scouring their website, I couldn't find anywhere to log into my account. I had to call them to be told it is done through Globalgig who I had never heard of. Why no link on MobiData's website?
    2. When I finally got logged on, I searched to find a record of my data usage to see how my 100MB was being used. To my amazement there was no way of tracking data usage.
    3. Since 100MB is rather small and I didn't want to risk raking up charges over my limit I requested to upgrade to the monthly 1GB £4.94 deal. Despite asking several times and getting written confirmation of the upgrade, MobiData never delivered it. Their customer service seems very poor. Reading reviews elsewhere suggests I'm not the only customer who thinks so (see eg https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/mobi-data.co.uk).
    4. Even if they had finally put me on the £4.94 deal I was unhappy that they gave no indication of my going over 1GB leaving me with potentially large costs.
So I've given up on MobiData. Instead I found PCWorld offering me an EE PAYG SIM loaded with 6GB data for £5.99 which lasts for up to 90 days or until the 6GB runs out, whichever comes first. This looks a vastly better deal than MobiData. It's PAYG so, unlike MobiData, you can't ever run over your data limit. Again, unlike MobiData you can keep track of data usage.

It seems I was lucky and got the PCWorld £5.99 deal as most stores showed it as out of stock. Even if PCWorld no longer offer it, you can buy this deal online for around £15 which in my view is better than MobiData.

I've ran in to an issue with this network...

I received a bill from them for using roaming data when I believed that they were providing a free trial with 100MB to use. They make it clear on their FAQ page that:
What happens when my 3 month Trial Plan ends?
You will continue to receive 100MB of Free Data to use in the UK and MobiData's international footprint for a minimum of 3 months.

But when I have contacted them to dispute this they have sent me a plan description document that states the 100MB free data is only valid in the UK.

I'm not sure how to proceed as I don't think it is fair for me to have to pay for data which I believed was included in my trial.

I also believe their plans do not act in accordance with EU roaming regulations which should cap the price charged at your local rate (5p/MB + €0.05 + VAT) which should be lower than 15p/MB. I also did not receive any communication highlighting the charges that may be applied while abroad by text message, and am wondering if this is worth highlighting to them?

    pIJVmh9.jpg
    Problems already...

Now checking as what if they are of value worth, without mystical (to me) promo code

It is load more expensive than their supplier- Three...

    Why should/could/would I use them? :o
