Yeah i do have a good pillow.

Good will should be the way forward here but offering a king size topper for a superking bed is a joke.

    The bed wasn't specifically recommened.

Looks guys i know i have done bad by buying this but when i was in so much pain when i brought it. Thats why i feel a bit robbed.

Shoot me down all you want.

I just want to know what i can do.

    1. Buy another mattress and sell that one.

    2. Buy a super king topper

You seem to want advice on how to make the store refund you. You cannot, and you have been given advice already on your options.

Being in pain when you bought it is not really an excuse. It seems an odd time to purchase something new. I wouldn't but new running shoes if my feet were in pain as I wouldn't know how the shoes would be with my usual running style.

I don't understand why you feel robbed.

You paid for a bed. You got a bed.

That's not being robbed. You should simply be annoyed at yourself at not doing enough research on the bed you purchased.

I don't think anyone is shooting you down... just trying to explain the reality of your situation.

You have had suggestions ranging from selling it, to persevere and try to get used to it.

Sorry, I cannot think of anything else.

thank you all very much for your input.

My mattress was well worn. Having a bad back and needing a new mattress i brought under impulse. It felt good knowing that a new mattress would tick f one other thing that might be causing my back so much pain.

I knew long before that a mattress is no miracle cure. But a new mattress would be better than my existing one.

I bought under others advice and should never have brought in the condition and pain i was under at the time.

All these things i have learnt.

I will probably sell it on as most of you say.

Your right, you cant compare a mattress to anything else really.

i waited a year to buy it and its after using it is giving me more problems with back than a had before. so yes it like throwing money away at something which is no good for me. You would only ever understand if you were in my situation. Its easy to judge.

Anyway a BIG THANK YOU to all of you for your help.

I wouldn't feel robbed, I would feel like a total fanny for not researching it properly. But....

For all you know it could very well suit you in the long term, so once my back pain was feeling a bit better I would be persevering with it.

One thing i have learnt is to be very sure about buying a mattress again and only buy when im feeling fit and not it pain.

I'd persevere, it takes more than a few days to get used to new mattress, especially when you've got an existing back problem.

What type of base is it on?

If it's on a solid base either slats or a divan then is there anyway in which you could change the base.

The simplest way to make a mattress softer is to put it on a sprung edge divan. Which is a divan that has springs in the top of it. It will soften the feel of the mattress and also act as a shock absorber lengthening it's life span.

If you have a bed frame look into get "sprung slats" instead of solid ones. Again same principle but not quite as soft as the divan option.

Have a nice chat with the bed shop, say sorry I've made a mistake and the mattress is too hard, is there anyway in which you can help me out, maybe a discount on a base.

    Good luck.

Just to add, your osteopath knows nothing about beds/mattresses, she may be a specialist in backs but she knows nothing about beds. A firm bed is one of the worse type of bed to have for a bad back, as they offer very little support for the spine.
