PLEASE HELP - returning a mattress

You have no automatic right to a refund, or an exchange.
You can try asking very nicely for one, an exchange will be more likely... But would you want a bed that had been used by someone else for five days? You certainly wouldn't spend £1000 on it.
You had chance to try it in store. For someone with issues like yourself you should have taken extra care, and possibly medical advice, to make sure you got a suitable one.
Your car example is irrelevant.0 -
If you brought a bed and 5 days after didnt have a single night sleep would you want a refund ?
Yes, I probably would.
But that is not the point.
All sales should be considered final unless advised otherwise.
If the shop does not offer a returns policy under which you could return the thing, then that's it I'm afraid.
Unless of course the mattress is faulty.0 -

this sounds unreal.
I almost feel robbed. like have brought something from a market without a receipt.
The one i have isnt worth the paper its written on then ?
I asked my osteopath and she said firm and i still went 1 softer and its still far to firm.
this isnt about liking it, i cannot sleep on it0 -

Your receipt gives you rights in the case of faulty goods. You would have the same statutory rights against a market trader as you would a shop.
Can you explain why you cannot sleep on it? Have you got a pillow that supports your neck?0 -
You have no automatic right to return anything.
Receipts don't matter.
You not liking it/not being able to sleep does not matter.
You bought it. They supplied it. That's the contract completed. The end.0 -

If the mattress isn't faulty, then I am sorry to say it appears like you have bought the wrong thing.
Now, did the salesman say anything like "this is the right mattress for you"?
Did your osteopath recommend this particular mattress?
If the answer to both those questions is 'no', then you best option is to sell it on.0 -
Did you try it in the shop?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
You can't return it. If you have been used to a soft mattress, a firm one will take some getting used to, but stick with it. If you are really tired, you will sleep.
It might be worth trying a mattress topper.
Once you are used to it, your back should benefit.0
