If you're trying to mine bitcoins, don't bother. The cost of the electricity you'll burn up will massively exceed the value of anything you mine.0

They were Maxcoin. But regardless of the mining, I do need to upgrade.0

Ok, back to the earlier questions...
How much ram do you have?
How much free disk space?
What operating system are you running?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

£50 would buy a secondhand machine on eBay several generations newer. Looking at http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php a 2.4GHz celleron has a Passmark of 226 and the first £50 delivered machine on eBay I found sports an Intel Core 2 E7400 which has a passmark of 1756. That one has no opsys but I'm pretty sure it should be possible to find one that does which will vastly exceed any upgraded version of this, probably nearly 10 year old, doorstop. Come to that you could probably get a better one through freegle.
Is this the one or the same as mentioned above?

The e7400 processor is very overclockable processor, I got mine upto 4.2ghz stable on a thermaltake duo orb heatsink.
trouble with this system though is that DDR2 is expensive ram.
the mobo is worthless and not very upgradable to add to.
this board wont have ssd compatibility. a 754 socket processor is hard to get a decent mobo for believe me I tried, I had a asus p5q pro turbo board that I wanted to replace. second hand items was all I could find for it and I wasn't going backwards in board specs because is would lose some functionality I needed.
keep haunting FB buy sell sites and gumtree, youll find something that's worth buying you build onto that's more modern.0 -

it will always be possible to upgrade to an SSD, even without SATA you can just add a SATA controller. (which is what i did when i first upgraded to a SATA hard drive)
however, for such an old system, its probably not the best upgrade, and not really worth it.0 -

The system my wife had had no sata connection I plugged my SSD in via a controller installed all the drivers and the system simply would recognize the fact it has a SSD in it it simply wouldn't boot up once the ssd was plugged in unplug it the system booted, tried allsorts of things that I research thnat came up and finanlly got my new build companants and completed the build and it works fantastic.0
