Unwelcome surprise in my grapes

If anything this shows M&S are selling good grapes. If they were completely soaked in pesticides then there would be no spiders around the grapes.
they may well have been treated as there was not live insect present so the egg sac may be also dead.;)
there was no mention by the op of how delicious the grapes where before the discovery of the unwelcome surprise.0 -
You should be thanking M&S for the extra protein boost provided by the free baby spiders!0

Assuming of course that they are spiders

Most of M&S grapes at this time of year are from South Africa - so maybe possible!0 -

You're right (of course).
Just to make doubly sure about whether scorpions might lay their eggs in grape vines I will call my friend in SA as he used to be a fruit farmer in Tzaneen. He, in turn, might need to call one of the wineries down in the Cape for confirmation (he's now a wine distributor).
I will do this as a matter of urgency - as soon as I have finished my nice glass of SA Pinotage
Out of interest, what part of Africa are you from?0 -
I'm not actually from Africa, (Surrey born and bred) but when I first joined up to MSE I was living in Mauritania (West Africa).
I've been living and working in various African countries for about 22 years (and I'm heading back there in a few months) so when I left the continent a couple of years ago I decided to keep the user name as I knew that I would be going back sooner or later.0 -

No African bloodline in my family history as far as I know.
My ancestry is Irish so I'm about as pale as they come and even after so long in the African sun I still don't have too much in the way of a tan.0 -
Ah i didn't mean it literally.....that would probably get me baaa'd0
