  • You can often get employment advise at the CAB and its free, perhaps it would be useful if you went along and made yourself an appoinment. Then they will be able to advise you correctly(hopefully).
I think you will get another job as I know quite a few people who have been sacked from jobs and also some people who have been in prison who have gone on to get good jobs.
Some employers are not bothered what you have or havent done before others are. It depends on the employer and the sector in which you wish to work.
I personally wouldnt be telling them that you have been sacked but thats your choice.
  • I couldn't cope with the thought of it being found out further down the road and facing dismissal again....

Feel sick at thought of explaining things at another interview.

Still no word re temp roles either.

Started today but more positive but.....

Its one day at a time stuff. You may feel like you wont get another job ever, Ive said earlier in the thread that that was the case for me too, it wasnt.

Some employers take ages to get back to people anyway. It doesnt mean its necessarily about you or your situation.

Shazza – you’ll be fine. People in much worse situations than you have gone on to bigger and better things, probably most famously this guy.

You seem to be getting interviews no problem, so I am sure you’ll get a job soon.
And at the end of the day nothing in life really matters that much, as we are all going to cop it eventually.
  • Lol thanks Fufu.

Had interview this afternoon...not a good one...they don't seemed fazed by dismissal but second time I've heard ' we don't think you'll find the job stimulating enough'....of course it could just be an excuse....

Agency put me forward for temp work which I was quite positive about as they said it wouldn't involve an interview (agency know about GM) but have now called to say the firm were very keen re my CV but want me to go in for a chat!!! Aaagghhh well no chance of getting this now!!!
  • Btw I've been applying for jobs that are probably half my old salary...as soon as I get asked that question at interview I can see their faces think 'she's not going to stay'!!! The thing is I know I have to take whatever I can get given my circumstances... not that I say that at interview!!! I tell them that what has happened has taught me a lot of lessons and put a lot into perspective and that my skills etc. would suit the job.....

Anyone any thoughts on how else I can put this across?

OK this is pretty personal but I've reasoned that I'm applying for lowly paid positions as it requires an immediate start and other perks outweigh the salary - less time to commute, less hours, training self development fluff and more importantly I let them know I know the job market is bad, that they have to look after their pennies too etc, I even use the fact my very well paid jobs never did last - it is a fact due to the highest of wages paid and reason why would I want to do that again

All this has been brought in most instances - apart from the one who wanted to pay as little for me to do these weird things in Excel, I was like good luck with finding someone happy to do but they will want to be paid a lot more as they will be hot in demand

Don't forget some companies will review salary/wage once probation has been passed so use that as a bargaining tool too - doesn't all have to be a lose x
  • Thanks KeepCalm...you always make me feel better!!
  • Morning Shazza!

Just read what KeepCalm has said, very good points raised....you could also say that your joint income has increased and as such this has given you the chance to try something new....and as it's down the scale a bit from what your used too it will engage the brain as well. You are applying for the challenge of the post.

Hope all goes well....as someone else has said you don't seem to have any problem getting interviews which is a big positive when you hear of so many people not even getting that far.

DO NOT UNDER SELL or UNDER ESTIMATE YOURSELF!!!
  • Thanks Flapjack!! It's funny you said that about joint income as at my interview yesterday they asked what my partner did....

Fingers crossed I might have 8 days temp work coming up...it's a start!!
