I'll be very surprised if the box you've bought will be able to record unless you pay the £15.50 subscription.I've purchased off Ebay the TalkTalk Youview recordable set-top box for a good price. I wasn't prepared to pay TalkTalk £15.50 per month for the privilege of recording TV0 -
I don't understand why people sell them on ebay if they are in effect, useless?
Surely the software and features to record is in the box, not what is coming through the wires?0 -
Of course, but providers (especially Sky & Virgin) want subscriptions and so disable such features for non-subscribers!anotheruser wrote: »Surely the software and features to record is in the box, not what is coming through the wires?0 -
You are not allowed to sell the TT provided box until you are out of contract. You also will have to connect it to get your services up and running. A second box will then get the channels too. I have no idea if they will be recordable though. As that may be an enablement from TT's end, plus no ones ever tried to do what you want to.0

Yes they will record and work perfectly fine with terrestrial broadcast without a Talk Talk contract.0

I was talking about the internet channels. Sorry for not being clearer.0

The record facility does not require and will be available without a subscription.0
