Sony Bravia sound and Sky HD+

  • Most people won't notice this because they don't need to alternate between the Freeview Tuner in the TV and the Sky decoder. Can I ask why you might do this? Every major Freeview channel is available via Sky.

I've certainly never experienced any difficulty with hearing and understanding any channel (or programme) provided via satellite.
  • Anyone with this problem may wish to re-post it on the "Techie" forum of MSE.
However, I can't help thinking that using Freeview in tandem with Sky is the main problem here.

Moneyineptitude - STV HD and STV+ aren't, as in the original post. I had to wait for ages for UTV HD to get onto Sky.
This isn't Freeview vs Sky, it's the different levels between your TV's internal tuner, and the HDMI input. On the Sky box, DO choose between Stereo and Dolby D as above. I don't even know which one's louder, but if it's just through your TV, choose whatever's louder. Some TVs do have settings for volume between different inputs (may be referred to as equalisation or correction) and others, including mine fortunately, save the volume for each input, which can be annoying as well as handy!

No they are not, if you read my OP.

Unless you know how I can get STV HD and STV + plus on my Sky box.

Don't you get it instead of ITV in Scotland then?
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Freeview is used as a 'Third' channel when recording 2 channels at once in our house. We also have the sound quality issues as the OP.

Do you think I would be moaning about it if I did?
