Meant to add, is there a link of dos and donts, etc.
Of course, you should try to eat reasonably healthy on the other 5 days, but there are no forbidden foods or "must eats". So sweetners and/or fat-free foods are fine if you want them but aren't "enforced". Just make sure that on your fasting days you count every calorie - my coffee count is because I drink a lot of it and use milk, so I have to count the milk calories.
If you're anything like me you'll find that what you actually want to eat on the non-fasting days adjusts (somewhat) as you get used to a) remembering what hungry really feels like, and b) how few calories it can actually take to satisfy you if you choose wisely.

Thank you so much,
I think i will try and stick to Green tea and water on 2 days for now
It would do me no harm to feel hungry for a while
Today I had a banana and yoghurt for breakfast, then a ham toastie - wholemeal bread - at lunch, then a yoghurt and a cereal bar for a snack,
Then chicken, spuds and beans for dinner.
I have drank one litre of water so far today.
And I did a 30 min walk, plus various exercise,
I'm actually looking forward to Wednesday now to see how I get on!0 -
This is my first 2 day,
I haven't eaten since 6pm yesterday, and I am not hungry at all yet. I have a bad cold, so maybe that will curb my appetite,
I am just sipping a blackcurrant Lemsip at the moment, then I will go back to bed for while, I dont start work until 2pm today. Fingers crossed I make it through today!
I dont plan on going back to eating normally until breakfast tomorrow, so that's around 6am, so that's 36 hours since my last proper meal, is that correct?
Thanks0 -
Is NAS juice ok? Sugar free jelly? Fat free yoghurts? Etc..
I mean on the 5 days,
I have an idea for my first 2 day, Wednesday, porridge, soup, ham, and a slimming world cereal bar with a cuppa
Oh, is sweeteners ok , as opposed to sugar?
There are no rules about what you can and can't eat. You can eat what you want and you don't need any books or special recipes. Just don't consume any more than 500 calories for two days in every seven and on the remaining five days don't eat any more than you normally would.
ETA Most people don't do the two 500 calorie days back to back, but it won't do you any harm if you do.0 -
I'm planning on fasting on Wednesday and Friday this week, and Monday and Thursday next week.
I will change fast day around my work rota, I don't want to be fasting on my long days until I get into the swing of it
I plan to have wholemeal toast and ham later, but at the moment I'm not really hungry just yet... Maybe that is because I have the cold, and have drank 1600mls of liquids so far today.
Its now 18 hours since I have eaten and I feel grand, although I spent some of that time asleep obviously... But so far, so good!0 -
I was less strict but it still worked for me. 5:2 but my 2 fast days were over 500 calories every time, naughty. full fat milky coffee for breakfast, can't function without it. missed lunch or a cup of tea with half a sugar and semi skimmed milk. Then smaller but same dinner with the family in the evening. I kept my days the same, Monday and Thursday and ate whatever I wanted on the 5 normal days.
I found that my appetite was diminished on the 5 days anyway after a couple of weeks. And I was full of energy on my 2 fast days so I kept busy and went to bed early to avoid temptation.
I lost a stone in 2 months and then went to onto 1 fast day a week just because I felt so good on it and this kept the weight off.

Thanks! I am getting through my first fast day ok
I have drank loads, and I have just eaten wholemeal bread and ham, 170 calories, its 22 hours since I last ate, and I didn't struggle at all, long may it last!
I'm drinking peppermint tea, no added sugar juice, flavoured water, and water. I think that's what kept me from feeling really hungry and dizzy etc. I feel fine other than the cold I had, so although my head is a bit fuzzy, I won't blame the diet as I think its more a head cold.0 -
I am considering doing this diet plan. Did I see a tip a while back about using Exante meal replacement shakes on 'fast' days? I know its not MSE but I think it would make it easier for me so I wouldn't have to plan meals ahead for fast days....sometimes I find the hardest part of eating sensibly or following a meal plan is planning ahead so knowing I'm just having shakes would be much simpler. 3 shakes a day is 600, do you think it'd still work or would I be better off having 2 and planning an extra 100 somewhere?Trying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)0

I read a while ago about some folk unable to cope with the stress of the fast. Particularly women.0
