5:2 Diet (part II)

Today I have taken the doggies for a long walk of 2hrs and half of it was up hill! Really enjoyed my mushroom omelette for brunch and a nice cup of tea. I am also really trying to drink more water as I drink way too much tea. I have a huge mug usually followed very soon after by another huge mug as I make it in a tea pot so always have the 2 mugs. I do have decaf and skimmed milk and don't take sugar so it can't be too bad for me. I am trying not to make a pot full and to have a glass of water inbetween, its going well so far, I've had 2 cups of tea and 1 glass of water.
I am making a homemade lasagne for tea so will try not to use too much cheese in the sauce and on the top! Will be as healthy as possible, will have a salad and a couple of wedges made in my Actifry as my son will want wedges with his.

You look amazing AB. Well done you!!
Hi All,
new to this diet, only started this week. Weighed myself on Monday, fasted yesterday, normal today and fasting again Thursday.
What i wanted to as all you pros at this is what day do you weigh yourself? do you just set a day each week to weigh or do you pick a day after your fasting day? Should i wait until Monday or this Friday to weigh myself again?
Thanks all x0 -

Have you ever watched 'The Hairy Dieters' series on BBC 2? They also brought out a couple of recipe books to go along with the TV show. My OH and I regularly use them as they give you the calorie content for each meal. They do a "skinny beef lasagne" recipe which is meant to be really good (I haven't tried it myself) which uses rolled out leeks instead of pasta: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/skinny_beef_lasagne_872770 -

I have tried a couple of herbal teas but as yet not found one that I like but I'll keep trying them as both my mom and my sister drink herbal teas so I'll try different ones when I go to their houses. Same with fruit teas as my husband drinks them occasionally so I'll keep trying to find one I like.
Thanks for the useful suggestion though as I had forgotten about fruit and herbal teas so hadn't tried any new ones recently.

I do love leeks and now you mention it I did see most of those shows. I'll try looking them up again and will try the leek idea next time as I live in the middle of no where so can't get to the shops today and don't have any leeks in.
Thankyou for the reminder

I just thought since I was starving myself two days the loss would be greater

The idea is to achieve a permanent lifestyle change, rather than embarking on an intensive diet which is impossible to keep up. This is where the 5:2 has the advantage over traditional calorie-counting - because if you spend every second of every day calorie counting and worrying about what you eat then you're likely to just end up thoroughly miserable, and so lapse back into your old habits.

I really want to try this diet, but I fear I'd be miserable on my fast daysI can get really moody if I don't eat enough!
Does anyone find that HM soup/cup-a-soup works on their fast days? I was thinking of either buying the sachets or making my own veg soup and taking it with me to drink if I felt really hungry. Obviously I'll have to watch the calories per cup. I think I'll probably skip breakfast, try and keep myself going with water/tea (soup if I'm struggling) until lunch, then have a small dinner when I get home.
PS. I know miso soup is meant to be good, but I don't like it much.0
