What are zero noodles like? They are quite expensive, are they not. Worth it?
I fasted yesterday and it was easier than ever. Had no breakfast, HM vegetable soup for lunch and "A girl called Jack"'s Carrot cumin and kidney bean burgers for dinner (with added chilli) plus salad.
I find a fast day, <<ahem>> helps the system along(sorry if TMI).
Not showing loads on the scales, but i am less bloated and clothes are fitting better, so it must be doing somehting.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I got my zero noodles on the buy one get one half price in Horrid and B'stard so worked out a little cheaper, though I at last found them in See Woo Chinese Cash and Carry at 1.20 a packet.
They are like plain pasta but you do need to give them a good wash before cooking, they are very filling but taste of nothing really. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Hi All
Been ploughing my way through the old thread and this one to gather as much information as I can. I need to loose weight, a LOT of it, but as most people in my position, I have an addiction to food. So a "normal" diet, although works and I loose weight, it does nothing for my mental state so it all comes back, and more. So I am looking for something that is a life style change, something that is easily sustainable for life. And I think this could be it
A couple of questions. I keep seeing people saying they do a mini fast 16:8. What does this mean? Is it you do not eat anything for 16 hours, then have your 500/600 cals in the remaining 8 hours?
Also, what have people generally find works best, spreading the 500/600 over the day in little meals, or having it all in one more substantial meal?
Looking forward to starting this. I think my days will be a Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Just have to iron out a few final details and off I go

This thread has gone a bit quiet lately so I've decided to bite the bullet and post some before-and-[STRIKE]after[/STRIKE] current pics.
The "current" pic is the first pic I've seen of myself in years that doesn't make me hate myself a bit. I don't think I'd realised how much of a difference losing weight would make to so many aspects of my life.
Anyhoo ....
Dec 2010 (probably my fattest, like most fatties pictures of me then are few and far between).
I still have a bit to go, but it's quite a flattering photo so what the heck! Now (May 2014) ....Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?

Try a few different ways if something doesn't quite work for you.

Wow, well done AB, what an achievement!
Just a quick heads up, a friend of mine has written an excellent 5:2 Diet Cookbook, which is free today (1 June) to download on Amazon Kindle http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00KBSYQEC?*Version*=1&*entries*=0
Clearly, I'm not unbiased, but I think the recipes are delicious (the duck and plum sauce is one of my favourites), however, it is free today. HTH!0 -
Hi I was just wondering if anyone had tried the 5:2 diet where you fast on 500 calories for 2 days a week but eat what you want for the other 5?
Any opinions please?

I tried this as I had been eating 1200 calories per day and hit an annoying plateau (despite working out regularly!). It gave me an amazing boost and helped me drop a few pesky pounds very easily. It was very difficult to lower my calories that much and it definitely isn't for everybody! I felt that on certain days I couldn't manage 500 so settled for around 600-700 and it still had the desired effect.
I also made sure I watched what I ate for the other five days...I think it's very easy to fast for two days and then completely pig out for the next five (the diet suggests you can eat what you want the other five days of the week) but you will get a far better response if you eat healthily throughout the whole week.
I also know other people who swear by this diet and have done very well. It's like any diet though...if you don't do it properly, you won't see any improvements.
There are some very good sites online that give you a list of daily meals all under 500 calories. Incredibly depressing when you first look at them but you soon adapt!0 -
Not tried it before, but I started today - so far have just had 4 mugs of tea and hearing a few tummy rumbles but not especially hungry yet.:) Planning on a salad with couscous for dinner tonight and allowing about 1/4 pint of milk for in drinks.
I've got nearly 2 stone to lose ideally but I'd be happy shifting one of them!0
