    3 days in a row?

Won't you go into starvation mode?

It's now called Metabolic Compensation and yes, it's a very real problem despite many people claiming it's just a myth. The body will always compensate for lack of nutritional input and its metabolic rate will reduce accordingly.

Wouldn't that be for total fasting which I am not doing but I know that any massive weight loss now will even itself out when I eat "normally" again (ie low calorie but more than the 500 per day) so by weigh in on Monday I will only have lost a few lbs rather than the 4lbs showing up so far since Monday! I just have a tendancy to rubbish ie a sausage roll when I am off, so would rather eat a bigger meal at tea time.

I would just like to say I had a STS for weeks when I cut my non fast days from around 200 below the TDEE to 400 and as soon as I upped the intake on non fast days it started shifting again.

I have about a pound and a half to go for my current target of 15 stone and after a heavy core workout I can see my abs - so I am progresing slowly and surely.

Fasting today so far I have had a black tea, 2 ibruprofen and a lansoprazole - it's a pain getting old but it's better than the other option.

This guy, Jade Teta, can explain it far better than I. But yes, fasting for 3 days in a row is not advisable or beneficial as it's likely to kick start the metabolic compensation in the same way very low cal diets do. The 5:2 method with non-consecutive fasting days is a much better approach.

Second fast day this week today - its raining & miserable so I'm totting up all the odd jobs that I've been putting off to keep me busy!
Looking forward to my (small) tin of sardines on toast topped with a slice of cheese tonight ;)

I fasted today and found it the easiest yet, i read it gets easier and i honestly think it does once your in the right mindset and realize that the hunger pangs only last a few minutes at a time.

Fasting today. Having HM sweet potato oven chips, with fallafel wraps with carrot salad and HM raw hummus (chic peas are now sprouted).

Oh Jansus - I have 5:2 envy!! I just don't seem to be able to get below 150lb. I don't pig out on my other days & just seem to pendulum from 152 back to 150 back to 152 - arrrrgh!

    Hi everyone,

I have decided that I am going to give this 5:2 a go, I would like to lose 3 stone, but would be happy with 2, so a long way to go, I am going to fast on Mon and Thurs as I think these will be the easiest days for me work wise, but will change them if they do not work out.

My only concern is headaches, I suffer with migraine and have always snacked to keep my blood sugar from jumping all over the place throughout the day, for 30 years this has worked fine, but now I am finding it really hard not to put the weight on.

Definitely a sign of getting older as my weight stayed pretty much even over all those years, but this last couple I have put on lots of weight.

I will give it a good try and see how I get on, and will pop in from time to time to update and read everyone else's journey as I think this might help me stay motivated.
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post

Fasted yesterday and came in at the end of the day at around 300 calories, that was a Nakd bar, a HM tofu curry with onions and peas in a malyan style coconut sauce and zero noodles. I also did a Body Pump™ express and a CxWorx class after a long and relatively physical day at work.

    I slept like a log.
