Hello everybody
I don't post on here much but I read and absorb lots of goodwill from you all.
Recently, my DD showed me how to use Facebook (old-fashioned, that's me). Oh my, they ain't like you lot. Yes, there's some good recipes etc but along with it there's all this b1tching and sniping.....it depresses the socks off me!
If someone says two words out of place, the whole lot of them seem to jump on the band wagon and verbally savage the one who said something in the wrong way. I can't be doing with it I'm afraid, so here I am, back with the ones who play nice
Some of you may remember me from waaaay back when I was a SW Consultant and full of useful advice (she says). Well, those days have passed, I retired several years ago and had put on most of what I lostI was unfortunate enough to be struck down with a nasty bout of pancreatitis which meant having my gall bladder removed. The one benefit of this was that I lost almost 3 stone in a very few weeks.
So that I don't waste this golden opportunity to get back to my pre-retirement weight, I'm starting back to group tomorrow as a new memberAt the moment, I'm full of motivation and raring to get back on the wagon, but I'm sure I'll fall off once or twice and will be looking to you lot to hoik me back on.....thank you in advance :T
I have an elderly Mum whom I'm the main carer for and two small grandchildren that I spend a lot of time with (and another on the way) so I won't be here every day. I know this thread moves very quickly, so please forgive me if I don't comment every time I really ought or get involved in challenges and the like, but I'd be very happy to post any recipes I come across and help if I can in any other ways.
I'll shut up now but thanks for reading this far :AI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

One scrumptious recipe lifted from a very nice ex chef who really seems to know what he's about (hope he does't mind me sharing):-
All day breakfast lasagne.
Free using cheese as a hea
Serves 6
Ingredients :
375g lasagne sheets
Frylight
6 sw sausages
10 rashers of smoky bacon all visible fat removed
125g light Cheddar grated
1 large onion roughly chopped
300g of mushrooms sliced
2 tins of baked beans
500g passata
4 tomatoes sliced
6 eggs beaten
Tsp mixed herbs
Salt and pepper.
Method:
In a frying pan sprayed with frylight cook the sausages. When cooked leave aside to cool.
Frylight another pan and cook the onions, mushrooms and bacon.
When cooked add the beans, passata, salt and pepper.
Cook for about 10 minutes.
In an ovenproof dish spoon some of the beans mixture into the dish.
Add a layer of lasagne sheets and repeat 2-3 times.
Slice the sausages and place on top of the bean mixture on the top layer.
Pour the eggs of the top and sprinkle the cheese evenly.
Cook in a Preheated oven at 180ºc for about 20 minutes. Remove fron the oven and place the tomatoes on top. Sprinkle with the mix herbs and return to the oven for another 20 minutes.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I am back Brandyless to report -2lbs please Shala really pleased with that, think its thanks to Mamans superfree veg advice.
I do wish people would think before commenting on how you look when you lose weight. When I got to slimming world a woman rushed up to me in the Hotel lobby and said OMG I almost didn't recognise you , you look so well, you looked absolutely dreadful last time I saw you, yeah I am sure I did, last time I saw her was 4 years ago at my Sons funeral and I could have done without the reminder of how I must have looked then.Slimming World at target0 -

Evening everyone, sorry I've been MIA for a few days. Had a busy few days, and evenings, and not had a chance to catch up on the thread until tonight. Just read back over the last 4 days... by golly that was a lot of reading!bookworm_nat123 wrote: »Hope everyones okay,
I normally lurk but wanted to share todays success. I put on and crucially did up a pair of size 14 trousers! and they werent stretchy ones either!
now still a way to go till i can wear them in publicbut so chuffed that i could even do them up! xx
Yay! Well done. Personally, once I managed to squeeze back into my size 16's I decided a muffin top, and camel toe look was 'on trend' and that's what I've been rocking ever since! :eek:Have any of you tried this mighty white Kingsmill that we can now have as a b choice.
Hope tomorrow goes as well as it can for you top girl.
I certainly have, and it's yummy! I've been getting it delivered by my milkman too, as it's on offer at £1 a loaf (in Tesco and Asda too), but it even saves me having to go out of the house to get it. Even better is the children love it too, so they're upping their fibre, and not even aware of it.Nope Topgirl wasn't aimed at anyone in particular I guess I'm just a weirdo who doesn't just want to read food lists I like to know a little about people's life's in part so I can go oh okay I'm not the only one who comfort eats/hormonally eats/is human/ off the wagon big time etc?
Sometimes it's hard to read knowing I'm off the wagon and everyone else is so on the wagon? Just nice to know I'm not alone?
Top girl I hope your funeral goes as well as it can be and I'm fairly sure the syns consumed around a bereavement don't count xxx
Sorry I'm just a crank who likes knowing I'm not completely out on my own where I'm struggling
Wizkid - I don't know what to suggest? Maybe more water or something? I suspect it could be related to a medication? Maybe worth questioning a dr about medications?
Mildredd, you're definitely not a crank, and I tend to think most contributors on here feel able to share when they're fed up, or feel like they're winning, or just generally a bit meh! I'd far rather everyone felt able to share how they're feeling, and know that this is a safe place to do so, with people who not only care, but understand exactly what it can be like. I for one really appreciate the thread for this.
Top girl - I hope the funeral has gone as well as it could do today. Thinking of you.
Well I've been out and about, socialising, and generally being rather pants at being fully on plan. The weekend involved a couple of McD's chicken selects meals, so that's pretty bad in itself. Monday night involved my monthly Clandestine Cake Club meeting, where we eat cake, naturally (yum!), and today has involved going out with a friend for lunch, which wasn't planned, but was very nice all the same. I cannot even begin to fathom how many syns have been involved, but suffice to say that I've probably eaten a week's worth in the past 4 days!
Tomorrow will be a new day. It's just a small blip, and real life will always involve me socialising and taking part with my friends and family, so SW has to fit in with that. So long as it's there to go to inbetween things should pan out OK.
Shala, WI for me last night was a +1.5lb. Thanks for the chart.
To be expected as I had WI only 5 days before and in the morning, when I'm always about 3lb lighter than at night. It balances out at having still lost 2lb in the past 2 weeks. Must make sure it's a loss again next week though.
Consultant - I remember you, and your great advice on the SW plan. Hope you're feeling much better now, and good luck with your weightloss journey.
Re. what keeps me motivated, I also like seeing before/after pics online and in the magazines. I have to say reading this thread really helps me, and seeing how all of us can have off days/weeks, but we keep trying. For me that shows how fallible, human, and hard working we can be. It keeps me feeling accountable, and I don't want to let you guys down either. I also know you'll understand when I've had a day or so off plan, and I don't have to feel so rubbish about it, that I just want to give up and wallow in a pit of Cadbury's mishapes and chinese takeaway. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -

Thanks Sarymclary - thinking you're right about it being on trend
For all those that have toast/bread as your heb what do you put on it thats not syns? or do you just use spread and syn it?
I used to have toast with marmite, honey, marmalade etc but all of those involve syns and im trying to avoid those at the moment as got lots of offplan days coming up due to best friend leaving. weve arranged to do lots of things before she moves but all seem to involve eating in some way! xx
