Ban the TV Licence

Totally agree, especially if you have Sky or Virgin and effectively have to pay twice. Do adverts BBC like everyone else. Sure it would cut programme times, but I'm bleedin sure I could cope with 2 minutes less Eastenders depression. The only reason I watch it is 'cos of the other half. 'The joys of marriage'.0

Some of the wonderful programmes on BBC4 would not be made without the TV licence, so I would keep it.
ITV has bucked up its ideas in recent years, but most of what it broadcasts is tat in my opinion, as it seems to want to appeal to the lowest common denominator much of the time.
BTW: Anyone who believes that the BBC in the UK doesn't have adverts is sorely mistaken. It does, but the difference is it advertises its own products.
Going off at a bit of a tangent, does anyone still watch adverts these days? To my mind life is too short to waste on adverts, hence I rarely watch anything live these days (sport and Doctor Who excepted) which enables me to skip past any adverts. I'm so out of tune with adverts (and very happy to be so) that a cover of Private Eye at the end of last year went completely over my head. I wasn't alone, as shown by some of the letters in the next issue. It transpired that the cover was a spoof on the John Lewis Christmas advert. Blissful ignorance!'I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my father. Not screaming and terrified like his passengers.' (Bob Monkhouse).
Sky? Believe in better.
Note: win, draw or lose (not 'loose' - opposite of tight!)0
