  • So you NEVER watch ANY broadcast TV at all???

    That's correct.

My "TV Set" won't even receive broadcasts.

There's no cable to my estate, I don't have a satellite dish, and I don't have an aerial connected up anymore - so I'd have a job to even 'accidentally' watch something at home as it's being broadcast, and there's no chance a visitor could turn something on either.

    Hilarious!

That would be your preconceptions and lack of imagination. I've never owned a colour TV and threw away a black and white one 25 years ago when hitting it hard on the top no longer had the desired effect.

Six years after that I got on the internet, and with a 9.8/14.4k modem you learned how to keep your bandwidth down.. No/few pictures, and video was a dream.. Plenty of us are not addicted to being passive sofa potatoes..

I own one boxed set, which I thought I might use for teaching EFL (it was too difficult for my pupils), and I see TV round other people's houses - how amazing!

I've lived abroad and visited a few other countries, and the bits of BBC programming I've seen may not be enough to persuade me to get a TV and a licence, bearing in mind how I live my life, but they're a damn sight better than what's on offer elsewhere. Do you really want to put up with crap, biaised programmes appealing to the common denominator? [Actually, having read the replies from some here it would seem the answer is 'yes'.] Mind you, I'd have to pay for a radio licence if they introduced it as I listen all the time.

Oh yes: forgot about catch-up services.. In six months I've taken the bother to watch one programme - on a clog-dancing flash mob, if you really want to know :-)

I may at some time stop receiving live broadcasts, and at that point I will stop paying the licence.

TBH, I rarely, if ever, watch something live; most of the things I do watch are pre-recorded programmes which I could watch after they are first broadcast, and even weeks/months down the line.

So I reckon that I could happily do without a TV licence.

No I don't, which is why I don't watch live TV any more.

I happily do without a TV licence, and have done so for over 4 years.

It's surprising how quickly you stop thinking "I wonder what's on TV?"

I watch from the Sky planner, so I very rarely think "I wonder what's on TV now"; it's not a leap to go from there to go to "I wonder what content there is available".

I never watch any BBC channels or listen to their radio stations. I pay £48.00 per month for Virgin TV (Broadband & Line rental inc.) as our aerial will not get a signal. Most of that channels I watch are exclusive to Cable/Sky with some on Freeview. I hate the fact I seem to pay twice. BBC should be a opt in.

I think it is disgusting I am forced to pay for something I do not ask to be broadcasted to MY house.
It is like having to pay for unsolicited mail or phone calls.
