The poll's no use either because all the Daily Mail readers naturally want everything free anyway.0

quite happy to pay for sky, i like the shows they provide, i could cancel when i dont like the shows or if i dont think they are value for money if i cancel they cant send me to jail.
or have to pay for shows i hate and if i dont pay they CAN send me to jail.
and last of all most daily mail readers are tories, and most tories beleive in the free market...i.e a level playing field where competition helps lowers prices and drives up standards.0 -

I'm not a Daily Mail reader, I don't want everything for free, and I voted NO.0 -
Sorry if this had been said but what really grinds my gears is the fact once you get your own home and assuming you have a TV you will have to pay your TV license ... yet they take 6months in advance...??? I swear I will be leaving my '6month payment' in my will just to make sure its claimed back and they don't just keep it.People don't know what they want until you show them.0

The 6 months in advance / 6 months in arrears never bothered me, and you don't HAVE to pay in advance as you can opt to pay annually or quarterly instead.
I figured I could either pay that way (meaning we each got some of the interest for all of the time) or pay the lot at renewal time meaning they get it all from then - which I reckoned balanced out, and at least I didn't have to find a lump sum up front. My OH recently mentioned that he pays his quarterly, with the first payment on renewal date - but he pays extra for doing it that way, so his licence is dearer then the advertised price.
As for bequeathing it.... for a lot of people there's still someone living in the house, so the licence just gets changed into their name (and they get the benefit of the money you've already paid), or they've moved onto an age-related free licence so it's already been sorted out. If the licence isn't still needed and isn't a free one I believe the estate can claim a refund for full unused quarters the same as I did when I cancelled mine.Cheryl0 -
A different forum has a poll with a slightly different question, but a far more positive outlook on things.
There's only two more pages of comments, may I sugest you read them:

It might be a bit unrepresentative, given how few voters there are.
Also, it seems they can vote for more than one option.0 -
