I got in that way - site is still going, but I think this is a rename. No "entry qualifications" necessary.

I went back to the original post and tried the link - didn't work. It was working ok when I put the post on, so something has gone awry since then as the first few got there with it.

Thanks ceridwen for finding a way.:T

@other goodies' gives the sanitary towel patterns and the stuff about aprons.

I saw the end of the prog about the Duggers. I noticed that the eldest, married girl wore trousers. Perhaps her husband has given her permission to do so! They all seemed pretty happy, but I don't think it is the life for me. Were they home schooled? They are.

I've just looked at the site - well worth a look. Interesting that the recipes are full of processed food, I would have thought their lifestyle and beliefs would have led them to more healthy food. Still, with 18 mouths to feed!!!!! No-one is fat though. I loved the way they encouraged the Dugglets to be adventurous - even the girls in those skirts!

Ooh! I think that is a programme I haven't seen (YET!) something to look forward to! Will have to check Discovery channel.
I have seen the first programme which was called something like 'And baby makes 15' in the UK. Then there was one about them moving house and another called 'on the road with 16 kids'.
They are all homeschooled for religious, and probably practical reasons. The eldest boy is doing a college course through distance learning.
I find this kind of 'reality' TV fascinating, but as you say - its not for me. Three kids was our limit and even then my mother thought OM was some kind of monster.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Talking of dresses -I've been inspired to get out the sewing machine and scissors and make myself some dresses after reading this article
    http://www.ladiesagainstfeminism.com/articles/weekinfemininedress/mrschancey.htm
Now, I don't subscribe to the religious reasons for wearing dresses, but I feel frumpy and blobby in my shapeless tops and jeans, and I thought how comfortable the dresses looked. I love aprons too and have ordered some patterns from the lady featured in the article's site

I think i'm going doolally, I can't see apron patterns on the hillbilly housewife site. Have found the section where she talks about why she likes wearing them, but can't seem to find any patterns. Can anyone direct me?

I bought some lovely fabric marked down over the weekend and would love to get the sewing machine out
Very excited to be marrying my partner in crime for the last 7 years in September 2012 :j

I don't think there are patterns on the Hillbilly housewife site, but there are some available here http://www.candleonthehill.net/store/catalog.php?category=12
