I'm right there! Superficially you look at them and they appear to be what people would like to see from any religious group – moderate, calm, charitable… and then… well  firebrands,  prejudice, :eek: judgemental behaviour and not a lot of ‘cheek turning’ behaviour.
It’s a shame. At least at the moment in the UK we have a more pragmatic approach to most things (and hopefully a more considered and intelligent assessment of what is really important)
On the other hand – this was on the BBC website, so maybe we’ve lost a grip!
It was thought the UK would only be leader-less for the few minutes it took Gordon Brown to drive from the Treasury to Buckingham Palace and accept the offer he’d been dreaming about all his life.
But as it turned out, the prime minister-in-waiting spent nearly an hour enjoying his audience with the Queen, before clambering into Pegasus as the UK’s 52nd prime minister.
And during that time, the kind of news everyone had been dreading broke with bizarre timing.
The event was given the highest status of urgency by the Press Association as it flashed up on screens in newsrooms across the country at 1424 BST.
 Chantelle and Preston had split.
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -

Hello there pinksleepybear, I've found the site - looked it up on history, here it is: http://myblessedhome.blogspot.com/
I do find this woman scary, but I use her recipes for cleaning and they work. Many of them are already on these threads. I especially love her obedience to her husband - quite right!:rotfl:0 -

Her life seems very regimented doesn't it? I'm surprised she has time to do anything while she has a binder to keep updating! Mind you I wish I could be as organised. My own life seems very chaotic and stressful in comparison.
Have just read the "rules" for mother and children. Husband doesn't seem to have any - how about "husband must not leave toilet seat up after use" or "husband must not leave dirty clothes on the floor" are two which spring to mind!
Aside from the religion thing there seem to be some interesting things on both the sites so I'm going to bookmark them because some of the recipes sound promising.0 -
Brilliant site - thanks

I recommend her milkshake recipe which really is very thick and amazingley good:D
But I haven't seen the bit about the aprons...there is also Cindy's Porch (http://www.cindysporch.net/) which is similar but less of the religious overtones.
Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0 -
I like Hillbilly Housewife too - sort of cute and folksy.
Have been trying to get it at intervals for last day odd - cant - blank page. Googling reveals other people saying same thing at intervals. Dont know whether she has taken the site off or is putting it in/out at intervals. Does anyone know what she is doing?
Meanwhile I found
www.healthy.hillbillyhousewife.com/index.htm
same woman - different site. Perhaps she is doing a swop. Hope she keeps both.0 -
I'm back!
Big thanks to voodoozoe and ceridwen, I have just been for a scroll through middle USA ...site-hopping my way through what I call 'Dugger World' (after the thrifty, clean-living, huge family) and have added several new sites to my bookmarks.
I am busy keeping busy but still have not made my pinny (#1) as I got side tracked by a stash that could become a patch work quilt!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
I saw the programme about the Duggers - do you have a link to their site please?Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000

To anyone missing their "fix" of Hillbilly Housewife - just discovered new website:
www.archive.org
this site is specifically an archive site for other websites - and I found Hillbilly Housewife on there - all except the first 2 postings she ever made by look of it. Last posting they have is April 2007.
Obviously people may like to look up other websites they are missing too.0 -

How do you use this website Ceridwen? I put in the hillbillyhousewife web address and just got a list of posts and when they were posted - is there anyway you can get it to look like it a proper website again? You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs:rotfl:
