  • Can I ask, did you clear your balance in full each month. Ive had my card 4 months now, and always pay on time, but not the full balance, (only the second month did I pay in full) but always pay over the minimum, and approx. 50 to 75% and am wondering if I will get a limit increase soon??

    Thanks in advance
  • Thanks for the advise. I will do just that :)

I'd wait for a while. They send the 'We're increasing your credit limit' letter a few days after your statement, so wait a week or two after your statement has been issued before asking, as it may be in the post.

If not, send them a secure message via their internet banking page. :)

    My experience with aqua.

    Dec 2012 250 limit
    Apr 2013 600 limit
    Aug 2013 1100 limit
    Dec 2013 1900 limit

Increase letters give you the following options:-

    1. Wait 40 days and limit will be applied automatically.
    2. Ring call center and have limit applied straight away.
    3. Ring to refuse limit increase and or reduce credit limit.

I usually just wait for the limit to be applied automatically but with my last increase I requested it be applied automatically only because I had a transaction refused due to a security check so I was already on the phone to them so asked to have limit applied straight away.

For me, Aqua have been fantastic and plan to keep this card. They are the only CC company to give me a 2nd chance.

My experience has been very similar and only taken just over 15 months to go from £250 - £1800

In the last 12 months, I've carried a balance for 1, possibly 2 months. I wouldn't believe all of the stories about carrying a balance gets you an increase. Pay off your credit card in full at the end of the month if you're able to. Don't just pay interest because of a rumour. :)

    Recently got another letter.

    New limit £2850.

Had just cleared my card if full after spreading the cost of a purchase over the last 4 months.
  • I Got The Aqua Card In In August 2014 With A Credit Limit £800
In December My Limit Increased To £1800 Then Just Last Week I Received A Letter That My Limit Will Be Increased Again To £2900

It Will Increase Automatically In 40 Days Of The Date Of The Letter Or You Can Ring The Number On The Letter If You Want The Increase Straight Away.
I Pay On Time Every Month But Just Pay The Minimum Payment
Amount And My Limit Has Increased Couple Of Times Automatically.

You can ring them to have the Increase implemented immediately.
If you do nothing the Increase will be implemented within 30 days.
If you do not want the Increase you have to tell them.
    Hope that helps

    I am now at £3750.

I also got a rate reduction by 5% so cannot complain. Not sure if this is due to the recent EU ruling though or just down to good account conduct.

Either way I am still happy AQUA customer.

aqua card have been doing the same with me. apparently if you pay your balance off in full each month they just automatically offer the credit increase.
From other stories here, it seems to be mainly the opposite, ie if you pay the minimum, or at least leave a balance to attract interest, they offer an increase.

I always pay in full and have been on £1,200 since I got the card in Sep last year; I have twice asked for an increase and been refused.
