Today is my Friday as LMG and I are off to Glasgow tomorrow for her surprise birthday weekend. She still has no idea ;) I have been collecting all the different monetary gifts from people so that she has plenty spending money. Everyone who is giving her money wants to give her early, it is really lovely and really kind of them.

I have covered the travel, hotel and breakfasts with the money I save for birthdays througout the year. Just got to get the money for meals. I have a wee account that I pay into regularly for stuff for LMG so I will take some out of that. That means we will be on track and not creating debt. I actually forgot about the account as it is a passbook and I pay to it automatically.

LMG asked if she could sleep in my bed with me on Sunday night (her birthday is Monday). My grown up 14 year old still loves her old mummy!! :p I will get her gift (nail varnish) and card ready for opening on Monday morning.

I have enough chicken to do two nights' tea so we will have chicken curry tonight and I will freeze the rest of the chicken ready for whenever we need it next. We will be eating out for the next couple of nights and I'm not sure what my parents have planned for the usual Sunday and Tuesday nights as we are all out for LMG's birthday meal on Monday night. We might just do our own thing the other nights.

Should be meeting the friend for lunch today. Need to double check she can still make it.

    That's it for today I think :)

    Thank you both :)

We had a lovely weekend. LMG shopped until she dropped. She was really spoilt with the amount of birthday money she got. I only overspent a tiny bit so nothing too worrying. I didn't buy myself anything while we were there but LMG bought a bag that she decided she wasn't sure about so I offered to buy it from her. I needed a new bag, the zip burst on the other one about 3 months ago and I have been using it like that ever since. I have bought a new zip to put in it but not sure how easy that is going to be. I will try when I get some spare time but in the meantime, my purse is safer.

It ended up being a double room that we had (superkingsize bed though) so by the time Sunday night arrived, LMG didn't want to sleep in my bed haha.

I had to buy lunch today (in Tesco Express where I nearly paid for my own bag!!) as I haven't done a grocery shop since 14th Oct. I finished the milk on Friday morning and we haven't had a drop since. Tonight is my last night of eating out for a couple of weeks (apart from Sunday when we have a day visit to Aberdeen but we will probably just get a chippy or something. I will make a point of taking a packed lunch) so I will pick up groceries after work tomorrow.

It's a hen planning night tonight for bestie's hen. 2 weeks on Friday until we go. Again, I am soooooooo glad I saved it gradually and paid it all off right away.

    Payday on Friday, wooooo :D

Woo for pay day, its payday for me today and I haven't for once spent the day planning what I am going to waste my money on, but looking forward to getting some extra payments made

Well done on buying in a new zip, v impressed at anyone who attempts to do repairs themselves :)

Sewing is a fairly new hobby for me. I have had a sewing machine for a few years and I have always fancied making stuff but it has only been in the past 3-4 months that the machine has come out of the cupboard and I have become really keen. I made a tote bag for my mum and we were both really pleased with it. My sis wants one too and I have the material ready but I find it really intense. I am a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like that and I have to be completely in the zone before I can start a new project. I will do it, and probably quite soon, but I am waiting for the zone to appear! My handbag is leather so I'm not sure how easy it will be to get the needle through it. I will update on here if I do manage :)

Had a hen meeting last night with 2 of my 3 besties. I think it is under control now. I feel much better now as it didn't seem to be going anywhere and when one of them suggested meeting up I jumped at the opportunity. I was only supposed to be the contact for the weekend, collecting money, etc. It is so much more than that. All fine now though.

I am in the middle of a meal plan and shopping list for this week. I will pop to Morrison's after work for bits. I only need to get 4 nights' teas, lunch stuff for Thur, Fri and Sun, and some non-food groceries (deodorant and the like).

Ooh ooh, I nearly forgot! I am just over the £500 mark in my house deposit saver!! :j Sig to be updated shortly.

Good stuff. You sound really in control of your money. I have just gone and read the first post of your first diary - how far you have come from 2007!

I have come far Banwa, you are right there. I have worked my backside off to get here too. I have a lot to thank MSE for though, once I grasped it there was no letting go!! :D

    Payday :j

Pots replenished. CC paid (£700 :o - lucky I always put the money aside as I go along). House deposit fund increased.

Spag bol for tea last night.
Tonight's tea is spicy chicken pasta.
    Tomorrow night, chicken & chips!
Sunday TBC as it is Aberdeen day.

I typed a huge post yesterday and copied it before I posted it as per usual. Computer crashed as expected and when I went to paste it back in, it was gone :( I was too annoyed to post again. Feeling calmer today ;)

    Happy weekend! :)
