hello, thank u for replies, he did a first job for me which was good and i had no reason to doubt him, he gave me a quote on a peace of paper with his name on it but no address, i had no reason to doubt him at all as he was good at communication and always called me back on time

what i really need to know is how can i find an address with only a name so i can send him a recorded letter saying he has breached the contract etc

please do not insult me by saying i handed £200 to a nobody as i feel bad already i came on this site for help not to be insulted
    thanks

Have you tried googling his name? You may get a hit for one of the websites which 'finds' people, such as 192.com.

You may have to pay for this service.

Failing that, if you get a hit close to you you can use the electoral roll, available in public libraries, but this might take a while, as they are organised by address and not name.

Get a friend to ask him to come round and quote, then follow him home and take the car reg, or get some big blokes to hide at the house to escort him to a cash point.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

thanks for replies above. on rated people he said he lived in xxxxx but when i spoke to him he said he lived local to me, i have spoken to trading standards who cannot help until I have an address and have closed the case. my friends don't really want that type of person coming round as they have young kids, plus he is not answering my friends mobile either. there isn't anything listed on 192 or whitepages, trading standards say he was probably using a false name.
i feel so gutted this was DLA money alterations tp hep me he has taken advantage of me, i just want my money back, please pleas:mad:e help thanks x

His other address is probably a forwarding address or his accountants.

He clearly wasn't an unpleasant guy as you rebooked him so don't see the problem with what's been suggested. Unfortunately your unlikely to get anywhere if you don't find his address one way or another
  • Firstly, take a breath!

    1. You have a telephone number

    2. You have his name

    3. Go to Google and type in his name and mobile number together on the same search - see what comes up, he may have behaved like this with someone else.

    4. There is a government website where you can trace CCJs - see if he has any registered to him already, his name and address will be there too.

    5. Go to your local library or police station or local government office and ask to see the electoral register - he may be on there or you may find several options to work through, but its something. Process of elimination.

    6. is he registered with any trade bodies? They will likely have any contact details for him.

    7. Did you pay by cash or other method? If other method, you can trace it to recipient, ie who cashed a cheque

If you put the address you have into Google, then poke around on Street View, you may find vans etc parked outside.

Alternatively, you can search the name here, which will find any company directors. You can narrow down by postcode if necessary.
