Oh edit: Looks like something to with their select service.
Yes you have to be Santander select to qualify which is dependant on your mortgage or savings or money going into your account each month - even then if can be quite random how they pick people.
While I was thee the plan was for do tactless to roll out on all cards during 20140 -

So it's possible to get Santander Select if you only have a 123 account?0 -

Yes I think so. I have a 123 account (my main current account) and a mortgage with Santander, but the "invite letter" for Select only mentioned qualification via my current account.0 -

Yes, but the requirement is that you need at least £7500 going into the account each month. But even when the requirements are met it takes many months for them to actually move you to select0 -

Do you pay more than 5k into your 123 account average or do you know what the minimum requirement is?0 -

When it first launched it was £7500 but it may of changed since I left. When it first launched existing customers were getting moved to select even though they did not fully meet the requirements as they wanted each branch to have a certain amount of select customers. E.g. A customer in my branch got moved to select as 3 months before it launched 30k passed through there account for a house purchase.0 -
I am happy enough on Santander Zero. Its not my main account I just use it for travelling.
And I definitely won't be giving them £5k for a mustard debit card.0 -

Yes they did, but those of us where already had it got to keep it. Which is why I am happy on it, as it is far better than any of their current offerings.0
