DH has been amazing with him and giving me time to rest and recuperate.
His name is actually a place in the west of Scotland and we wanted to keep along those lines since we're Scottish and our nephew has a fairly Scottish name too. I think as a name though it may originate from Ireland and means "Spear Bearer".
Hope everyone has a great easter weekend xxx
I was wondering if it were anything Scottish, having crossed the Corran ferry lots of times0 -
Hi everyone. I still lurk on here even though my little boy is 7 months old!!
With regards to sleepsuits, I only had three new born sleep suits as I wasn't sure how big he would be, but was in hospital for 5 nights after he was born, and despite being close to a Tesco they had no new born stuff in boys or neutral so husband had to then go to a Sainsbury and then an asda and again neither had new born so little one had to be swamped in a up to one month on a couple of occasions so if I had another baby I would definitely buy a couple of packs of new born (shop around though and compare as they do vary in shops by quite a bit) as it was definitely hassle that we could have done without.
Also, just my experience on monitors- we too have a small house, but I have a monitor so I can hear when he is stirring. This gives me time to then pop up and settle him again before he goes into crying mode and therefore waking himself up and then it taking longer to settle him. if I didn't have the monitor I would only hear him when he is crying, rather than just whimpering/ stirring.
Those asking about bags, I took one wheelie case for my stuff and a smaller weekend bag with baby stuff in. I tried to condense it but by the time I added a couple of towels I definitely needed the two! I would put all your labour stuff and things required immediately after and maybe one vest/ sleepsuit for baby in one bag and take that with you and leave the rest in the car for oh to pop out and get after.
From experience too I would also not spend lots on breastfeeding stuff until you know all is ok. I only got one nursing bra to start with and it turned out I couldn't bf so luckily I hadn't wasted any money, or if you do buy stuff buy it just before your due date and keep the receipts so if you unfortunately can't bf you can still return it.
Congratulations Clara, I love the name.0 -

Congratulations Clara the name is lovely
glad to hear things are ok now and that you and baby are home safely.
Thanks for the tips Thinkpink. It's good to hear from those who have already been through it.0 -
That's really helpful ThinkPink, hope you're getting on well with little one.
I had a good sort out of clothes yesterday and bagged them up into tiny baby/newborn or first size/upto 1 month /upto 3 months. We have been so lucky in the amount we've been given that we've not bought any clothes other than some socks and some bibs.0 -
Congratulations Clara
lovely name and hope you are feeling a little less sore.
Thanks ThinkPink that's helpful to know.Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Hospital bags packed! Still need a couple of bits - nursing bras have been ordered online and I need to buy a spare toothbrush! But I've put a list on the top of the bag about what is missing (phone charger, glasses, notes etc). Once I'm on mat leave I'll also do some 'extra' bags for if need to stay in longer. Baby's changing bag is full as I've put a full pack of nappies in, but it just about shuts.0

The one thing that occurred to me looking at the list linked from this forum was while it had nappies, wipes etc on the list, it didn't include nappy sacks. I'm sure you can just ditch it in hospital bins but probably still easier to package it up before chucking?0
-
Yes, I realised that too arbrighton- have chucked some in. We have loads lying around as use them for the cats litter tray0
-
I have bought some specifically as the ones for the dogs tend to be scattered round everywhere rather than still neatly in the package!0
